I've never really been affected by a death before, as none of my close relatives have passed away yet. Although tonight, I just got the news that one of my friend's mother was killed last night, and his sister has died also.

Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Mother, Daughter

KSDK) - A 12-year-old girl died Friday night -- the same night
that felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident were filed
against a St. Charles man in connection with her death, officials said.

Police
said Joshua Logsdon, 25, caused a series of accidents Thursday night
that caused the deaths of 12-year-old Erin O'Bannon and her mother,
Lisa, 45, both of Maryland Heights, Mo.

Police said Logsdon was driving a pick-up truck on the entrance ramp from Cave Springs Road onto Interstate 70.

Logsdon tried to pass another vehicle on the ramp, but ended up in the grassy median, police said.

His pick-up truck careened onto I-70, hitting two vehicles before coming to a stop, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

A
minivan carrying Erin, Lisa and her husband William O'Bannon was forced
to stop on the interstate to avoid the accident, the patrol said.

A tractor-trailer behind their minivan couldn't stop and slammed into their vehicle.

Lisa O'Bannon was pronounced dead at the scene.

William O'Bannon, 45, was taken to SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Mo., in serious condition.

Erin died Friday at a St. Louis hospital, the patrol said.

One person suffered minor injuries in the first accident.

I'm speechless. Throughout life, it seems like the worst things happen to the best people. I can't even begin to imagine how my friend, his younger brother, and their father are going to deal with the loss of their mother and sister. Whats even harder to imagine is how my friend and his brother will deal with this whole thing if their father doesn't get out of the hospital.

And to make it worse, the  that caused all of this fled the scene. I hope he gets what he deserves.

Please, keep the O'Bannon family in your prayers, and pray that the father makes it out of the hospital and makes a full recovery. I can't begin to imagine what they're going through right now. Right before Christmas too.

And please, let this be a reminder to not drive like an idiot on the roads/highways and endanger the lives of others.
