I have never really tasted a vodka that tasted good.

Though I have heard cheap vodka is just distilled alcohol from something cheap to almost 100% then just flavored like vodka. If that is true, I would love to try a nice expensive vodka.

I really liked the Vodka that the Soviets were trading when the Wall came down. You got to watch the cheap imports though. Place a drop of yellow food dye in a shot, if it turns green, there is methonol in the mix and some of the blue dye is still there. Way Russians get by with shipping 'alcohol' into US without taxes. Ship it in as 'antifreeze, redistill the methanol(blue dyed) out and you are left with ethonol, cheaper than paying the taxes.

That's a mighty fine voddy.
I got a litre of it for my 18th stuck it in the freezer for a few days and it is one of the best vodkas i've had even compared to Grey Goose and the like but a fraction of the price

Seriously smooth. Chill it down to near freezing and it tastes like warming ice water. The one pictured is the "platinum" edition which is run through charcoal 4x (just like their regular) and then 2x through silver filters.

One of the few true Russian vodkas you'll find on the market here in the US. Distilled in St. Petersburg, it's a post-soviet beverage that simply puts most other vodkas to shame. It's considered "expensive" by Russian standards (a buddy of mine and his friends used to pay their drivers and interpreters in it when they were on a metalworking trip to St. Petersburg about 5 or 6 years back) but it's a cheap-to-mid-range price here in the US. I paid $25 at the state ABC store for the liter shown there.

Still don't really like vodka that much.

That and tequila are just not my liquors.

How can you not like tequila?

Vodka's not my favorite. In fact, before my first true Russian vodka prior to this, it's something I would have preferred to pass on. That changed when my "Russian Harem" (Erin made up that name, not me!) brought me some Sabantuy from Kazan. It's so good that I've been rationing it over the past year.

I used to hate vodka but a ukranian friend of mine who's big on it let me try some higher quality stuff and it was actually very good. It was strong without tasting like poison and actually went down fairly easy. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand. As for tequila, I'd rather drink motor oil. That stuff is vile.

For the price, Polar Ice can't be beat.  About $12 for a 750ml.

A Hungarian guy brought some of his home-distilled stuff to camp. It was quite smooth for being around 140 proof. It quickly became a night not to be remembered. I'm not much of a vodka drinker, but do love tequila with a passion. For some reason tequila drunk is awesome wide-awake drunk.

See, for me tequila doesn't hit me like other liquors. I can do shot after shot and not have it hit me for quite some time. If I do that with bourbon or scotch or vodka, I'm three sheets much much earlier.

The Serbians on our team drink some thing they make in their backyards, and it smells just like gasoline.

I have never had the courage to try it.

I've found out that you only ever want to drink something that someone made in their back yard if you're in the following states:

WV, NC, VA, PA, GA, SC, AL, TN, KY.

Lol, then why have it? Afraid of drinking traces of anti-freeze after reading OS's post?

Alcoholic beverages are for drinking.

Hence the inclusion of the term "beverage".
