the field me and my friends play at has an old old old snowmobiler's house in the woods about 10 yards from the field were we have a home made "house" (if you really call ply wood palets and 2/4's a house) but under the snowmobilers house we dug tunnles and a hole to the roof also its really cool

Here are a few ideas. First rule of paintball bunkers: Make them bee proof! :) 1. Dig holes/create mounds of dirt. Raw manpower or rent/borrow an excavator or tractor w/ a back hoe. 2. Tires. For best results, fill the tires w/ a bit sand and concrete. You can usually get tires from your local automotive store for cheap. Watch out for tires w/ exposed belts. 3. Wood slabs. Find someone local who does anything with wood (pallet construction, lumbering, etc.) and you can probably nab trailer loads of wood slabs. We had some lumbering done on our property and the pine cut into boards. The slabs all went to the paintball field. Here are some pics of our main bunkers: http://geocities.com/frag_68/map.htm 4. Pallets. As mentioned before. Only problem is the nails will fall out over time and no one wants their game ended by someone w/ a rusty nail in their hand. Any factory, retail store, shop, school, etc probably would give you pallets if you call them. 5. Barrels. 55-gallon drums are really nice and make the action more intense just because of the sound they make when shot. If you want the open side up, drill a hole in the bottom so water can drain and put some sand in there. 6. Sand bags. Buy them online or at your local surplus store. 7. Good ol' junk. Industrial junk is the best. Large culverts, panels, cars... anything big. 8. Trees. Get some. Find a friend with a chainsaw and a cedar swamp and you have a fresh supply every year just with the cedar trees that have blown over. Cedar/pine (coniferous) last longer than other untreated woods because of their resin (sap). A post hole digger can make building wooden bunkers even easier where you can't prop against a tree. 9. Sawed wood. Don't forget your local lumber yard. Get some 4x4's and some plywood and you can make any field you want. Again, a post hole digger is nice for sinking the 4x4's into the dirt. 10. Beach inflatables. If you find some large inflatable items they can last a little while on a paintball field. You'll want to put some sand in them before blowing them up completely so that they won't blow away. Worried about them getting ripped? Wrap them in duct tape in critical areas. Remember, you want it to be a safe field so be careful using sharp metal objects that are going to rust or glass that will break. Don't forget about the bees either!!!!! A good paintball field can be hard work, but it can also be fun just making the field.

Another thing that you can use that hasn't beeen mentioned is old carpet nailed to a couple of trees or to boards dug into the ground. This works great and its also some of what I use. I also use plywood and holes dug into the ground. |

on the paintball feild i go to they have little plywood houses (about 4) and little plane fuesalagues. on their "D day" area they dug trenches with sandbags on the sides with a circle made out of sandbags with a canopy(?) draped by a nearby tree to cover the circle a little along with the tree

Get a bunch of palats(I know I spelled that wrong. Palates? Wait, no, that's a type of yoga...), a nail gun(always fun to use), and a good spot of land. Make a 4x4(or bigger) square of palets(there we go!), nail them together, but leave one palet out where you want the door to be. Do the same thing on top of the first layer, again leaving a space for a door. Then add a roof. You could make multiple stories using this method. Maybe take more palets and built a wall around the bunker, a sniper tower, etc. The possibilities are endless. To get the material just go get some scrap wood from a construction site or some palets from just about anywhere. There's plenty of stuff you can use. You just need to be creative. |
