Austin is an amazing city, but this lack of transportation is killing me, and given that I'm leaving for Hawaii again come August, getting a car didn't seem practical.

So I bought this:

Shes gorgeous, first vehicle of any kind I've ever owned. I was thinking I'd just store her when I leave for Hawaii again, but I'll probably swallow the $1200 shipping fee and take it with me.

Took my safety class this past weekend, getting my motorcycle license hopefully by the end of next week.  Hoping to ride up to Dallas at the end of the month with a friend.

Congrats.  Still waiting for a practical time to get my first bike - but its a tough sell while being at school.

Nice!

I personally never liked the look of the older Ninjas. I take my MSF class on Monday and choosing a first bike is hella hard. I can't decide between a Ninja 250R, a CBR250R, or an ER-6N.

Hey, you're in Austin! I'm in Houston, and looking for an excuse to ride my Bonneville anywhere. Something should be done about this...

Texas meet n' greet?

I'm planning on dropping about $400 for a helmet soon, and I haven't taken her out of the parking lot yet, taking it reeeeeeal slow. I'm an extremely cautious person who assumes every car is trying to ram into him, trusting that attitude will keep me alive Tongue

Its a 2007 Ninja EX-500R. The guy I bought it from used it for some touring, so it has a lot of miles (21k), but hes also taken impeccable care of it, and I plan to keep that up.

I'm totes down for a forumer meet up out here. I still never got back to Gatyr about meeting up, which is silly given that we're in the same city.  Drunkenly troll 6th street sometime?

Latest issue of Popular Mechanics has a test of six 250cc bikes, including the Ninja and CBR, if you're interested.

I'll be trolling 6th street with a buddy of mine next month. Great fun.

I paid $2500 for her, easily worth it. I didn't really want to go above $3k for my first bike.

Detrevni, nice bike Thumbs Up How do you like her?

I love that bike. I've already almost clocked a couple grand on the odometer, and I've only had her for a few months. I haven't driven my car in weeks, it seems. I've done a benefit run and a few shorter rides, plus all my daily driving/riding. I couldn't imagine living without a bike now.

Next on the list is a big, long trip. Bungee some sleeping gear to the fenders, and toss some clothes in the tank bag and just ride. Not sure where to yet, though.

If I know anything about you at all, based on your posts on this forum, you'll pick up riding quickly. THEN you'll have a real problem on your hands, and in your wallet...

So... note to self... don't release clutch fully without giving some gas too.

Never fun when your bike dies in an intersection during rushour. Noob mistake.
