looks like my old 98. I left mine that way cause I thought it looked cool but eventually got it powdercoated.

Well here is an update of whats going on with my gun so far. I finally got all the old paint off of it and started to do some milling. well, not REALLY milling, it was a LOT of work with a file and a few other basic tools.

Sorry to those of you who wanted a "sleeper" gun, by the time alot of you suggested it I had already taken alot of the flaking paint off.

anyways, here are the pictures

here is what I have done so far

Polished internals
milled volocity screw lip, though only part-way I still wanted a litte of it to remain
milled off "Tippmann" and "Push Safe"
milled rear sight
milled sides of larger sight railing

now you may ask why I milled the sight railing, here is why. I will never use them so I decided to try an experiment. I milled it so its equal with the metal in front and behind it. the reason is I am going to fill in the gap under the rail with some sort of putty so it will be flush with the metal so the above the main circular chamber will look like below the main chamber. I will probably also use some putty to fill in the warning words so it can be flush. and a couple other random things like that random circle above the right grip and near the sight in that annoying dip. I cut straight back so that normally you can't see the dip, but if you look at it from the top ( like the third picture) you can still see it. I don't know why but that little dip that you always see on most milled sights really bothers me, so I am gonna try to get rid of it entirly

anyways, sorry about the doctoral thesis of a post. please let me know what you think about my plans for the gun and feel free to suggest more things to do to it

I'd have a hayday with that gun. I wish I could find another 98 for $40. As it is I went town on mine. I want to try it again now that I know what I'm doing, I have some cool ideas. There is some good milling work so far. I would go farther. Take off all the lettering and the finger grooves on the front grip. Also get a cheap tube of JB weld and fill in all the silly lettering. Do either a flat jet black paintjob or olive drab (Duracoat is awesome) and use the best primer you can get.

What color do you plan on painting it? Sorry if its already been said.

Thinking about it...

I really want to find the most raped98 custom out there and customize it to no end.

But as worse as possible. And $40 would be too much

Estcstpnt, I have been contemplating what color to pick for a while now. for a little I was thinking of silver, but then I decided against it and am currently thinking either dark blue or dark green.

oh and today I think I will work on fileing down "98 custom" and I may file down the rest of the volocity lip, depending on if I feel like it after I'm done with the lettering. once I am done all that I may move on to the front grip. though I will probably only do the second groove on the grip, I want to leave the first one there.

once all that is done I will probably start on filling in some of the stuff  with putty that I mentioned in my last post

paint it gun metal grey, not the goofy silver that you can get a 98 as, but actually gun metal grey. either that or polish the bare metal, it's alotta work but, if u get there it's beautifull...

I would just polish up the metal but it would look weird with the putty I will be putting in the lettering on the right receiver and in the slit for the bigger sight rails although if I could just find a paint that is a similar color I could just paint the putty after it dries up......
