Greetings to you all.
I am new to this forum, and relatively new to Paintball. I have played about 8 or 9 times and enjoyed it so much that I figured I may as well get my own marker. And since there was an upcoming Paintball event with some of my friends from work, I wanted to get a marker that would leave an impression (literally! ). So after doing a little research I settled on the A5.What a sweet choice it was! Everyone else was using the stock rental markers. I don't know what make they were, they looked similar to the c68 but with with the cocking lever right at the but end of the marker. With no sight and the hopper directly over the body this design seemed weak to me. (The slightest touch on that lever in play and you had to re-cock everytime.) So there's my new A5 sittling on the rack beside the rentals, lovely sights, offset hopper and cyclone ball feeder. Everyone wanted it! As each group of people showed up the rental guys would say "pick any one off the rack" and they all would head straight for my A5! Lol. I had to take to carrying it at all times, I got tired of say "that's personal property." It also gave me some intimidation factor. As each Newb was told "That's Mine!", they would first mumble "oh...Sorry...", then go pick another marker. Some of the brighter ones would realize the differences and get this worried look in their eyes. And I just smiled! What a fun day in the woods it was. I dished it out and I took my share of hits as well, though not as many as some did. The A5 performed exactly as advertised. With most everyone else chopping a ball at regular intervals, I put 600 through my Tippy without one chop! SCHWEEET!! Then I found this forum, and here I find lots of useful info and ideas. Sweeter still. So I'll be around. I'll read and learn and contribute when I can. And If you are ever in the neighbourhood of Extreme Paintball (east of Winnipeg), you had better duck! |

Remember, its the player. Not the Marker. Oh, and don't get too cocky. One day you will find someone who is better than you.

It's good to hear you had a great time with your new gun. Often times I hear people saying how bad it was because they "got shot too much". Have fun with you gun and most of all be safe.

Yeah sometimes getting shot up a lot discourages you from the sport. It's much more fun if you take long breaks between getting hit lol.
Glad to hear you enjoy your a-5. This is just the beginning, there are a million upgrades and home modifications out there for you, and your marker will grow with you to do anything you want. Enjoy! |

actually a vertical feed is not a flaw in design..i belive an offset hopper is for it get annoying wen u peak ot of the left and ur hopper is in the way of ur view so u havta stick ur neck out more..and wen u peak out eth right the hopper is 1 huge target...

also great to see u had fun...but as u get more into the game u learn ur gonna need some mods or a new gun to keep it up to speed w. this futuristic world of technology...so as u mite be happy with ur 5bps now but wen u step into the speedball world 5bps mite seem a lil weak (even tho it only take 1 shot to get an out it takes 12 to scare that crap out of someone in a bunker) Edited by jerseypaint - 14 May 2006 at 4:26pm |

Hey Thanks All!
I will definately heed the advice to not get cocky, and I am sure I will not get discouraged by taking some hits. I plan to take as few hits as possible however. I spent 2 years in the Army Reserves so I know a little bit about tactics and how to duck and cover. And yes, I know I will soon meet someone better that me. I think it actually took about 10 minutes! ![]() Oh well, it's all part of the fun. Edited by Gropo - 15 May 2006 at 7:00pm |

Good to see you had fun with the A-5. I'd love to get one, but it's a little bit out of my price range, so I'm having to settle for a Custom 98.
I put about 800 balls through a C98 (I think it was one of the ones before ACT) first time I played without a single one chopping. Maybe I wasn't playing hard enough ![]() Eller |

If you define cowardice as running away at the first sign of danger, screaming and tripping and begging for mercy, then yes, Mr. Brave man, I guess I'm a coward.

Well I have purchased my first upgrade for the A5. I settled on the 12" Lapco Bigshot barrel.
From everything I have read it should be a fine addition to my marker. I can't wait to get out and shoot with it. Maybe I'll sneak out to an empty field with it and test it out. ![]() |
