The ACT is a nice feature, especially when using an RT or e-grip on your marker. However, if you aren't firing at high rates of fire and use a powered hopper or cyclone feed, then you shouldn't have any issues.

Alright, the RT trigger system is a drop-in kit that will work with ANY Tippmann '98custom. It's basically an air-ram that sits behind the trigger and pushes the trigger back out (like a piston or battering ram) each time you pull the trigger and the marker cycles. It uses the spent exhaust gases that blow the hammer back to re-cock the marker to operate the piston. The way you achieve a high rate of fire with this system is that you can literally 'bounce' the trigger by pulling in with the right amount of pressure so that the marker acts as if it is fully automatic. You can get sustained fire of up around 12-14 balls per second with the system. At that point, you'd definitely need a motorized hopper to keep from chopping any rounds as motorized hopper feed at a fast enough rate to keep any rounds from being "chopped" by the bolt. When we talk about chopping a ball in the paintball world, it means that the round has only made it part-way into the chamber before the bolt comes forward. If this occurs, you break the ball in the chamber and the accuracy then suffers tremendously as the paint gets on every single shot after the broken ball until you clean out the chamber and barrel. The faster you fire, the more likely you are to chop a ball. Firing on semi auto with the stock set-up an a regular hopper means you aren't as likely to chop a ball, but the possibility still exists.

The stock set up is good enough for now. Most people can't pull a trigger faster than 8-12 times a second, so the chance of you chopping a round is remote. However, it will happen at some point.

The best thing to do is play with your new paintball marker for a few games to figure out what you want it to do for you. When you know what path you want to go down (speed, accuracy, concealment, run and gun, CO2 or High-Pressure-Air, etc) we're all more than happy to help you figure out what steps to take to upgrade your marker as you see fit.

WHY? If you're only ever going to own your '98c, then sure, go with the cyclone, but if there's even a slight chance that you may upgrade to a better marker down the road, then go motorized so you can take the hopper with you and don't wind up wasting money on a feeder system that only works for one marker.

The cyclone is good, the only issue I have with it is the fact that you can't
"take it with you" should you decide to upgrade to another marker, or
play with multiple markers. Buying a motorized hopper means that you
can use the same hopper for multiple markers. The cyclone is a
modification that only works on the '98/a5/x7. So, if you were to decide
that you wanted a speedball marker, and you wanted to sell your '98,
then you would have pretty much lost the money you invested in the
cyclone vs if you were to invest in a motorized hopper you could use on
your other marker.

Not really. The biggest drawback to the operation of the cyclone is that when your air gets low, it no-longer feeds rounds into the marker. Same goes for batteries on a hopper. Of course, I've had the same 9v batteries in my revvy for 3 years of periodic play now, and it still feeds fine.
