Hi, I am just getting back into the game, and am about to get a new gun.
Here's what i'm thinking so far:
A-5
Reactive trigger
Flatline Barrel

Now can someone explain to me what airsystem i should consider? What are
the major CO2 flaws?

Thanks for helping me out

CO2's main limitations are consistancy and freezing. When your rate of fire get's really high, your gun may frost over. This is only a problem depending on the gun, so a tank like the A-5 should be fine. Also, CO2's consistancy has a lot to do with temperature and weather. I've noticed cold weather can really screw with CO2, causing all kinds of velocity spikes.

like detrevni said constistancy and freezing

but it is much, much, much cheaper. plus some fields don't have hpa refills.

if you play alot and have some extra go hpa, otherwise theres nothing wrong with co2.

i would personally say get the apex barrel instead of flatline. it's cheaper, has up to 100 ft more of range, easier on paint choices, and my favourite is that it's much, much more accurate

C02 in a liquid form must convert to a gas before it can be used by the gun. This is facilitated by heat transfer between the liquid and the outside air via the metal membrane separating the two, and it explains why C02 tanks frost up when the heat transfer cannot keep up with the liquid's "desire" to become a gas. When this happens, liquid is siphoned into the gun and bad things can happen. In an A-5 or any other low end mech/e-mech it causes bad velocity spikes and drop off. Even under the best temperatures, C02 is not very consistent even if it's regulated. This is why some fields do not allow C02 to be used on the premises, because HPA does not have the temperature or inconsistency issues like C02 does.

If you want greater accuracy, I'd stay away from the Flatline and pick something like a LAPCO Bigshot up. CO2 is fine, but as mentioned, it is inconsistent and when you get to firing fast, it freezes up. A Palmer's male Stabilizer will help you out tremendously.

Wow, thanks for the many replies. Any tank choices? As I said, i am not sure
with what i should go. If I took CO2 for now, can i switch later on without
problems?
I went to a paintball store here and tested a flatline and actually liked it a lot,
but i'll give the apex a try. Thanks for that.
Firing speed has never been a prob, since i'll usually pop 3-5 at a tome and
would never just keep shooting, so I don't think that the freezing will be a
prob. lus I'm in LA and it never gets really cold here, but i'm still open to be
convinced to go N2.

Well if you go Co2, you can change to HPA/N2/Air (its all the same) without any modification or any problems. But N2 is more consistent, it doesn't freeze up, it doesn't have that big puff of smoke coming out the barrel, and it never turns into liquid. Good tank sizes are 45/4500 and 68/4500.

faves?

holy crap i thought it came at 3k

cool.

how often do you plan on playing? if youre gona be playing alot (once a week) then either way

if youre not going to be playing once per week though i wouldn't bother for now.

Overall i am voting no on the hpa for now. Therefore get co2 for now, it's cheap so theres no big loss to switch later on and you can use it as backup.

when you do the apex make sure it is only 6 clicks forward (out of 8) otherwise it will seem weird right now as it will shoot the paintball in a weird s shape. it is an amazing barrel and imo it beats the flatline in every way

Keep C02 for now, unless you live in a cold climate and you like top play in it. If you do, or if you have money to burn and don't want to mess with C02, get a HIGH PRESSURE OUTPUT (red regulator) 68/4500 by Crossfire.

If you do go with CO2, Id recomend an expansion chamber, and if you play on RELE cold days, just get one of those 8 hour heat pack things and duct tape it to the expansion chamber, that way its warm enough to change the liquid into a gas...

oh, and mi opinion, flatline=crap   lol

apex is 100 feet longer

can do so much more (shoot around and over things)

and is much, much more accurate

it is also easier on cheap paint

plus a bit cheaper

im not sure if anyone has said this but if you are going with the rt you might want to stay with co2... for some reason for most people the rt doesnt work as well as it does with co2
