Do i go for a Tippmann A5 or a Smart Parts Ion? and what are the pros and cons of both markers?

What are you going to be playing more? A5's are very good and strong guns and are very good at being upgraded. I have read some about the Ion but I dont know that much about it so I can't give much imput about it.

Remote lines are one of those things that you either love or hate. Try one before buying it. As for the two markers, I hate smart-parts on their business principles, but the Ion is a really really nice marker. Do you ever plan on playing in tournaments?

Remote lines really dont affect the marker other than getting rid of the tank. If you get an Ion, you will need an HPA tank (Anywhere from 100-300 or more USD) and a good electric hopper. You need nothing other than a $20 CO2 tank for the A5 |

Just get an ion. Or, even better, a ProMaster.

is an ion easy to maintain because ive heard that its such a burden to clan especially when u have to take it apart.

Taking it apart can be tricky if you aren't careful with it. While tippmann A-5's are strictly pneumatic (unless you throw an e-grip in) Ions use a board and solenoids to accomplish the action of firing the marker. The issue at hand is that pinching a wire or busting the solenoid assembly is much like loosing the sear or bolt to an A-5. Either way, it's going to cripple the marker until you can get it repaired. It's just that throwing a new sear or bolt into the A-5 is a lot cheaper and easier to do than re-wiring an Ion or, god forbid, putting in a new solenoid assembly. You really shouldn't have to take the Ion OR the A-5 all the way down that much though. Electropneumatic markers (Ion, Shocker, Matrix/DM/PM, Angel, etc) tend to not need as deep a cleaning as there are fewer moving parts, so normally a good wipe down of the bolt and some lube do the trick. Pneumatic markers have more moving parts to get dirty and gum up. They require more in-depth maintenance because of this. So, it's kind of a trade off. If you screw up cleaning an Ion, it's potentially expensive, however, you really shouldn't run into that kind of issue. If you screw up cleaning a tippmann, it's cheaper to fix, but you deal with more routine maintenance.

My Ion is far superior to the A-5 that I struggled with for almost a year to
get working properly. I would never own another A-5, as my expereience with it was HORRIBLE. Sent it to the Tippmann techs three times, and they never could get it working. I love my Ion, and have never regretted buying it. |

If you have the money to spend on a HPA tank and electric hopper(Halo or Reloader B), I would say go with the Ion.

ions are better but you must buy a hopper and hpa tank your best bet if you don't have any money is to buy an aluminum used off pbnation.com same for hopper |
