I read the FAQ above, did you guys tape the internals as well? So paint didn't get in there, or no?

Yes I taped the interior of the paintball gun, any holes that were exposed, such as the places were the allen keys went, I stuffed with toilet paper. I also put toiletpaper under the gun shell while I painted it, just as an extra precaution. (Enough in the back to cover were the plug went and in the front too) Also TAPE THE INTERIOR OF THE THREADING WERE THE BARREL GOES IN (Or stuff it with toilet paper before you paint like me Toilet paper is your friend here put it in your barrels, put it in your trigger handels, put it in any place you think you may accidentially get paint in your gun. I also taped the mechanical feed lever you push in just a little bit, I doubt it wouldnt have hurt to paint it, but I didnt take any chances. So, basically anything to do witht the interior of the gun, yes tape, the only thing I didnt tape that was inside of the gun, was basically the cocking handel part that sticks out. Use Denatured alchohol and wipe off the entire gun BEFORE YOU Paint, other wise it may glob, because of oil on your fingers that wipe off on the gun and are invisible to the naked eye. So after you take the gun apart, I used Krylon Fusion camo colors, Tan was my first layer, then Brown, and Green was lastI used the gun's original black as the first layer.. but I made it show very very very little., It looks like this..
Also you can cut out wierd shapes using tape, on one side, I have the smiling paintball (team logo on my sig.), and this side if you can see it on the butt-stock I have a paw-print in brown.. and my last name is in black on the top of the butt-stock too.
If you need Any more help, let me know. I can post more pictures if you want or go into further detail. It would probably be best to PM me, because I am off for the night. I'll be back tommorow after college though.. Edited by seal160 - 24 November 2008 at 10:22pm |

Digi-Camo is alotta especially because I did not use the Stencil things that DesertWookie suggested...Personally I think some of the guns that people used stencils on, you can that the patterns repeat over and over on the gun, so instead I decided to spice it up, I cut out a bunch of little tiny little squares and also many many other bigger squares with Blue Painter's Tape, and I put them all on Wax paper so I could easily peel them off when I needed them.. If you look on the gun you can see that I used shapes that are kinda letter like "L" or a "U" ,"Z" or "E"(without the middle stick on the "E") (Lol LUZE...
). And Just use the shapes you see in tetris, like the Upisde down "T", the "|" and the Infamous squareI basically have big sections, then I have a couple smaller squares around them to help diffuse the pattern. After, say I put an "L" shaped one down and painted the gun, like tan, the next layer I would put another "Z" shaped one ontop of it so it overlaps at somepoint and put a couple small ones around that.. I highly recomend you use a thin pocket knife (like me), Xacto knife or utility knife to apply the painter's tape stickers you put on so they are almost perfectly up and down, and before you paint, PAT DOWN THE STICKERS, this will help paint from getting under it, or making sure the edges are on correctly.. there will be flaws, but no-one really notices them that much. So dont let it bother you if after you peel the stickers off, some aren't perfectly square .Not going to lie it does take time, it does drive you crazy if you try to do digi too quickly.. but the best bet is just to take your time and just do it whenever your bored. Also dont be afraid to put a ton of stickers on, I put a minimal ammount for black, A Ton in tan, and A ton in Brown, then did the final spray-over with green. People ask me how much the paintjob costed, I tell them to guess.. they always assume things like special ops or someone online did it and they say things like "$300.00.. to $200.00" then I say "No no no, I did it and it was only $27.56.." thats when they are like "Wow!" ![]() If they ask you to do yours, tell them no.. lol after all the work you do, you will see what I mean. ![]() |

Seal (really nice job on your marker, btw...) is totaly spot on here even though I went the stencil route...
The pattern can repeat but when it's something this busy it's hard to see it. Also, depending on the paint you use will make a difference with how the marker turns out and how it lasts. Krylon, I'm told, is pretty good and wears pretty well. I went with Duracoat firearms paint and liked how it came out. Here's a detail...
Like Seal I incorporated some custom work in to my paint too. This Warsensor logo is painted as is the Warsensor Lion that you can see in the picture above on the mag well. I have heard that this is perhaps the most durable paint you can use but it does require that you use an airbrush. I'm waiting the last of three weeks before I play with this marker since painting it to let the paint fully cure and we'll see how it holds up but already I've had people think the paint was factory paint and one guy thought it was a graphic image adheard to the marker. I really like the finish. My job cost me about $120 including paint, clear, and two sheets of stencils but as you can see it is a VERY detailed paintjob. You could do it for less but you would have a LOT more time invested in it to make it look like this...that's a lot of cutting if you did all those stencils by hand. Also, prep work will make or break a paintjob. Make sure to clean the gun REALLY well. Sand it to scuff up any areas you're going to be painting. Mask off any areas you want to keep paint off of. Those steps are actually more important than putting the paint on itself as everything you do will be affected by how well you prep the marker. Edited by Robotech - 25 November 2008 at 11:46pm |

I have thought about that because some of my friends are asking me to do their masks and guns.... lol
How do those stencils work? Are they basically stickers that are pre-cut? I thought of it being a piece of paper you get and cut out and then spray on the gun or something.. but that would make no sense at all seeing as it has to be layered... ![]() By the way, nice gun, I love the setup on it.. ![]() If you played at the fields I do and were on my team, the other team would want us split because we look like and act like "Professionals" lol... they did that to me and my friend. ![]() |

LOL...thank you! Yea I was playing a beginner walkon game once with my M4/M203 setup because my son and (soon to be) step-son were playing and the ref came over to me and told me to take it easy on the new players since he could tell I wasn't "New" to this. LOL The stencils are actually vinyl. Basically they work the same way as what you did but are all precut making your life MUCH easier. You spray one color, lay down some vinyl stencils, spray the next color, lay down more stencils, spray the thrid color (and repeat for colors 4 and 5 if applicable) then you remove them all and spray your clear. Here is a picture from Tactical Camo showing how these work. The yellow areas are the Vinyl stencils. If there are areas you want to touch up then you can use the part of the vinyl where the masks were removed from as a "female" stencil so long as you are using an airbrush. This part isn't necessary if you don't have any touch up areas. I may do a little on my marker since I don't like the area right behind the Warsensor Lion (too many little patterns) but I didn't do any on the original job. Here is a picture (also from Tactical Camo) showing how this is done. Edited by Robotech - 26 November 2008 at 3:51pm |

Thanks, I always wondered about that.... and yea that would have made life a whole lot simpler.. but now I have a liable excuse to yell at everyone who looks or breaths at my gun's paint job because of all the time (3 days) it took to cut those dumb squares.. (7 days to do the gun.. ) |
