How can you safely paint your gun? (Not jam anything up or clog up the barrel?)

Spray paint or not?

What would you recommend as far as paint?

UltimateTrooper's instructions are still here and in page 1 of the Uber Upgrades sticky.

1.Sand

2.Primer

3.Paint

4.Gloss

But what I do I do because I like to do.

You need to take it appart before you paint it. Lightly sand it, use alcohol to remove all oils, grit and dirt, hang each half with a coat hanger and spray it(just the outside) with Rust-oleum spray paint. After putting about 4-5 coats on it(if you put the coats on too thick, it'll drip and look like it's crying lol), let it dry completely for about 4 days before messing with it. Here's mine after doing what I just described:

It's a peen hammered look paint by Rusto-eum. It dries to a hard finish and not very likely to get scratched too easy -
