I own both and in my experience, the lapco beats the J&J by a little bit in accuracy which is what I look for in a barrel. The ceramic will make less noise and cost less but it also won't shoot as accurate and doesn't accept as many different types of paint. That thing about the ceramic shooting clean seems to be a myth too, it didn't work when I tried it or at least no better than with the bigshot. So out of those two I would rather have the bigshot and you should probably get either a 12" or 14". I would aim for 12" but if you can't find one then a 14" is ok. Anything longer than that is just extra length that does nothing to help you so don't bother.
