NEVER get more than a 16 inch barrel.
It is totally not worth it.
14 inch is perfect for anything

There is no reason for you to have an 18" barrel, other than for cosmetic purposes.  Barrels above 14" are unneccessary, in fact, once you get those higher length barrels, your going to have to turn up your velocity just to match other barrels.  Higher velocity equals more Co2 per shot, and more Co2 per shot equals less shots out of one tank.

There is no accuracy difference between a 12" barrel and an 18" barrel.  In paintball, only about the first 4-5 inches actually stabilize the shot as it comes out of the barrel.

Think of it this way.  A longer barrel compared to a 12" barrel would give you:

1.) less shots from a Co2 tank

2.) less mobility

3.) unneeded weight

4.) more chance of breaks inside your barrel

Your choice, do what you want, just letting you know what you would be getting yourself into.

Yes, they will work, it's just that there's no advantage to having an 18" barrel compared to one that is 12", it's just extra metal.

I read that a 18" barrel will shot 6 inches further than a 12".  I don't know if it is true, but they say that  the ball is coming out of the barrel at the exact same velocity, so it will shoot the same distance from the tip of the barrel, but the barrel is up 6" further than a 12". So it is a six inch difference and waste tons of C02 or Six inxhes back and less C02. But the way I see it, 14" is just right. Also, the gun is considered an extension of the hand, so you are adding inches that are difficult to hide and are a possible target (though it is unlikely that you will get hit on the barrel)

the advantage is more accuracy

Not neccesarily. The accuracy difference between a 14" and 18" is little to none. It is basicly like moing the target about 1 yrd up. I would go with a 14" (maybe 16" if you want to be flashy, but nobody likes a flashy person).

Never go over 14 inches! It will cause your paintball to lose its velocity, which in turn makes you crank up your velocity screw!

Well it's 4-1 right now, the 4 in favor of a shorter barrel.  I don't have any more time to explain so I rest my case.  Just ask any gold member, they will say an 18" barrel has no adantage compared to a 12" or 14".

True. But the 98 Custom gives room to adjust up if you have to be under 280 fps. It is a waste of gas, but that is your call.

I personaly use a 14" teardrop. But the physics on the staement above about the  ball goin 4 more inches sounds logical. So I'll stand by it untill it is proved wrong.

BARREL LENGTH- For the most part, the length of your barrel does not affect accuracy. A paintball needs about 7.5-8 inches of barrel to stabilize, and to be truthful, after that, you are using more of your air source (co2, n2, or HPA). So, the longer the barrel, the A- more air you use and B- the more you have to turn up your velocity. This should help to eliminate questions asking “How long should I order my barrel?”

Straight out of uber upgrades!

So now you are proved wrong and this can all stop! THE END!

That doesn't prove anything. What is 4 inches gonna do to accuracy. I was just stating a therory that i read on a site.

That 4 inches Is gonna slow your paintball down, its also gonna make you use more co2, or hpa!

The Joker shooting the Bat Plane with a large pistol was a movie in case you didn't know... and yes, your bud might like his 20" or his 18" barrel. But you're not listening- 14" is enough. anything beyond is insignificant. If you think a big barrel is gonna intimidate the people you play against, go ahead. Most people aren't even phased by it. Plus, for those who love their big barrel, stand next to someone with the same gun and setup you have but with a much smaller barrel, and start shooting. Shoot until your tanks empty. I guarantee the bigger barrel wil WWWAAAAAAAAPPPP!!! before the smaller one. I guarantee it'll be a big difference. Now, if you plan on filling your tank after every two games or purchase a fairly large one, then yes, get the barrel. If you even remotely care about filling your tank, get the shorter one. Why would this matter at a field? It won't. The only time it matters is if you and your buds go playin out in your large wooded property, unless you're prepared to rent and learn how to properly fill a tank. Otherwise, if you get a large tank and can fill it after every game if necessary, go ahead and get a 30" barrel.

stick with a shorter barrel i heard that after the ball travels 14 inches in the gun (barrel) it slows down the paintball
