I always had admired the tippmann custom/model design. My theory is that they are so good because the whole gun is just one long tube. So no need for barrel

Eh, yeah. Delrin swells like crazy when you use regular "gold cup" or the like gun oil and it reaches the bolt. This should be interesting...

Make sure if you buy this that you (I guess) remove the linkage arm and front bolt to oil the valve, etc. Gas it up with some oil in the ASA and run it through the gun (without the front bolt, linkage arm and barrel) and then put those parts back on.

That's the front bolt. It's in the breach (where the ball loads into before it is fired)
