hey, i am about to buy a tippmann 98c. i cant wait to go out and play because paintballing looks so fun and awesome... im gonna get a 12inch lapco bigshot also. the only thing im worried about is... HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT?? some of my friends say it is really painful but then some others say it is hardly painful at all and that the pain doesnt last for very long. PLZ HELP!!! i possible give an example of what it would feel like to a new person :P &nbs p; &nbs p; |

It Hurts about.... Pinch a Sunburn and thats about how much it hurts for 5 sec.

It depend on how high the velicity hurt. Its like a sting sensation.If you worry about getting hit on the field your going to get cream -------------

| Make sure everyone checks their FPS before a game. That will minimize any pain inflicted upon yourself. It will also hurt more if your shooter is using hard paint (such as Blue Streaks). Wear several thin layers of clothing and not one thick one. That will also help minimize the ouch factor. Have fun! |

if your scared on being shot, the enemy can use that against you.like if you hide behide the bunker all they have to do is shoot the bunker and you will still hide, then the will run up to you and shoot you unless you move fast enough -------------

It hurts like a bee sting for like 5 seconds for the most part. Some areas it hurts a little worse jus because of what they are. Word of Advice: Never breathe inward while you are getting shot point blank in the stomach or the balls. It doesn't hurt that much at all. If you wear a long sleeve shirt and heavy pants you won't really feel anything. It feels like a bee sting. It hurts a little then it goes away really fast. ------------- (I'm a nob with no clue about almost anything...) |

lol... yea me and my friends at school have wars with those and somteimes they hit me from 6 inches away with my pants pulled tight... i cant handle that but i think it feels worse when u are waiting for it to happen. i think ill be ok for paointball

OK..I was going to say. If you couldn't handle that then your a wimp. You'll be fine playing paintball. It might be a good idea to go out and rent a gun for the day before you go out and buy one. If you want to get use to being hit by paintballs get one of your friends to shoot you over and over again until you get use to it. You'll realize pretty fast that it doesn't hurt that much and you get use to getting hit pretty fast. If you do that rember you and the person shooting you wears goggles. ------------- (I'm a nob with no clue about almost anything...) |

there are a few factors that affect the pain inflicted by a paintball 1. velocity (the higher the fps the more it hurts. i think in tournies its like 300 fps which is pretty high) a paintball feels like a whip with a leather belt with a little push on it. it lasts for about 5 secs if u get shot from the other side of the feild but if u get bunkered (shot from very close up), ull feel it all day. good luck benmorse, jake edit: in response to impyking- i got a pball gun before i ever played and the first day i played i loved it. -------------

The max is 300fps but most fields make you set it to about 280fps. 280fps gives you some room just incase you have a velocity spike. ------------- (I'm a nob with no clue about almost anything...) |

ive never played a tourny but soon i will. i asked the owner of my local feild what the average fps is in tournies and he said "300fps" and i said "but the feilds a bigger" he said "much bigger... but u'll get shot from the same distance" -------------

Yea I did too but it might not have been a smart idea. What if I went there and hated it. I wasted $225 on something that I'll never end up using again. Well I guess your field is different. In the tourneys I've played in they made you use what ever speed you were shooting as long as it wasn't over 300fps. Most of use were shooting around 280 and 290fps. ------------- (I'm a nob with no clue about almost anything...) |

The pain is similar to getting hit with a rubber band (Close range). It stings for a second then goes away. Though there are many factors that determine the overall "Pain" level. Velocity (speed at which the paintball is traveling), Distance (How far you are from the person who is shooting you) and where you are hit. For example- getting hit on the hand it more painful then getting hit on the bottom of you leg. Don't dread it, though all of us did. You can be rest assured that you'll have a great time.

just get your sibling to buy a new gun let them turn the velocity up when it was fine before and let them shoot you 20 feet away thats how i got into it. that hurt like crap but 300fps didnt hurt. to me it feels like a rubber band snap and im 14 so that tells you something... but thats me |

I kinda like getting shot.. Lol the first day I went out I was scared but I got shot a few times and realized it wasn't that bad, it does sting a bit at first (to me its just like getting snaped with a rubber band) and after that it stung less and less. Now I just feel the paint touching me, no sting at all, sometimes I have trouble telling if I got shot or not which bugs me lol. This is probebly from playing 2 times a week for 2 months straight lol. |

Yeah, its jus you! Not everyone is the same, some will say it really hurts (depending the other fool was shootin hot or was shootin point blank), some will say it wont hurt, cause theyre a sadists (a person who thrives on pain). Now, if you wanna really avoid the pain, jus wear a long sleeve shirt, or jersey....the shirt/jersey will take most of the impact of the paintball and away from the skin, you might experience a bruise from this but, its no big deal, it will heal and go away after a few days. On the side note: Remember to always "keep yer mask on at all times on the field", the last thing you dont want is to have yer eyes taken out cus you was feeling hot and sweatin and decided to take the mask off. ------------- Do not steal....the government hates competition!

yea same for me but lately its been too hot for my jersey which was a size too big making it tke a lot of impact and i just haven't been shot in the body in a few weeks and the nthe last time i played my team kept gettin rolled aand i got shot about 3 times every game and that hurt a whole lot |

Everybody is missing a few facts.
1) Getting hit by a paintball is no where near as painfull as a bee sting. 2) Along with the stinging sensation that lasts for a few seconds, there is also a feeling of high pressure. Think of it as getting punched then slapped at the same time in the same place. Only the mark will be no bigger than a quarter and the pain 100x less. -------------

less than a bee sting (i got stung yesterday doing yardwork  ).
If I had to describe it... It's like a charlie horse, but with a little more sting, and it doesn't hurt afterwards. It's only about 3 seconds of pain. The more brutal ones will hurt for a minute or so, but you get over it in the heat of the next game. It's nothing to be scared of. I think Airsoft BBs hurt worse... So do BB guns with steel BBs. I shot myself in the leg once to see what it felt like, lol. Don't try to put too many layers on... It makes you less flexible in a game. I go with the Dye pants and a sleeveless shirt made of Climalite (i think that's the name. in simple terms, a semi-fancy workout shirt.) Edit: worst place I've been hit is the neck, but I haven't bought a neck protector yet, so it doesn't worry me too much. Paintballs seem to bounce off my crotch with my dye pants, lol. -------------

dude , i got hit by my friend not even playiong were we walking back to his and i ran ahread and he shot me in the leg, i bruise wuz the size of a baseball and it lasted 4 a month, cuz he velocity wuz at like 800,900fps and ur supossed 2 play at 300 -------------

Don't worry a guy today brought his daughter that looked to be about ten. She didn't have a problem. On the other hand a guy on my team was complaining about one shot in the head. Its awesome to have her on your team. She takes a shot better than some guys. But their wimps. Oh if you ever bleed after being shot. They really didn't chrono their gun. Thats all I can't stand. This has never happened before but I got shot by a round that I don't think that I could see. If the field and players are honest and shoot at the right speed it won't bother you. If you go to a field that doesn't have refs that care. Then some people will run around with hot guns. But if the refs are good then they will make sure markers are at the right veloctity. But anyway getting hit feels just like.....hmmmh.......
