paintshop can do a lot. one thing it cant do is make 3D figures. have a request? one example is the gun in my sig. i did it in paintshop. i cant afford photoshop -------------

It's not a one-sentence answer if that's what you're looking for. It's been awhile since I've used 6.0, but I don't think it's much different from 7. The key to layers is to let your mind think of them as physical layers. Imagine you're painting multiple pictures on panes of clear glass and laying the glass panes on top of one another to create a single picture from the contents of the "layers". PhotoShop has a Layers window that you'll want to have open while you're working with the image. These are your glass panes. You can create more using the Layers menu. Select each layer with the mouse and make modifications to that layer. You'll end up creating a composite picture composed of many dynamic layers that can be edited on their own. To combine layers, you'll want to "Merge Down". Place the layer you want to combine on top of the layer you want to combine it with and, with the layer you want to combine selected, hit CTRL-E. That will merge the current layer down. But... If you don't know how to use layers I'm guessing you actually have a great deal of learning to do in regards to PhotoShop. In which case, the above commentary may not make sense to you... In which case, I've got one suggestion for you... Either be prepared to spend a great deal of time learning or walk away now. Gaining effective knowledge of PhotoShop is a long process. ------------- Real Men Love Cheeses |

Also... Certain image types (most of them) don't support layers. In this case, you'll actually want to cut and paste your JPG or GIF into a new PSD image in order to use layers. ------------- Real Men Love Cheeses |

i dont see the difference between a 400$ gucci and a equaly good

day. looked real to me...although i have only seen one other
gucci and it was my friends sisters. it looked like someone shot
it with paintballs, it was white with like red,green, and blue gucci
signs.

All you do is open the gun in photoshop, and find the picture you want to put "on" the gun. Paste the new picture on a seperate layer, create a layer mask, lower the opacity of the new image, and use the layer mask to get rid of the parts of the top image you dont need. Sounds more complicated than it is, it's uber easy. some on pantball chat if you still dont get it. |
