Subject: stolen 98c w/ flatline have questions
Date Posted: 29 July 2004 at 11:22pm
me and my friends went paintballing today. we left for about 1/2 an
hour but we hid all of our stuff (feild is a unowned lot dubed a pb
feild) its also a popular spot for rock jumping. so when we come back
and start to pack up someone noticed there gun was gone........went to
check other people that were about to leave to see if they had it by
accident or took it by a joke.......then I noticed MY gun was
gone....then we noticed a back pack full of about $500 in stuff from an
expantion chamber on a 98c to a flatline barrel and a teardrop plus
some expensive glasses were gone
we search the whole feild to see if sum-1 hid them nope not anywhere.
we call the cops to file a reprort and how to go about doing it
we end up in the sherrifs office about an hour later ater taking all
the cars license plate #'s and asking a few people to see if they saw.
anything
we file a repot on 3 stolen 98 customs and about $700+ in stuff (including guns)
what kills me is that my friend had an A-5 in his bag with a response
trigger expantion chamber, double trigger, remote line, belt, and a
whisper barrel and it wasnt touched, nor was my brothers gun that I
brought for back up in case mine failed somehow and it wasnt touched
either (my wallet with about $200 in it and my driver permit was in
there!! glad its not gone) plusd another A-5 stock and onther stock 98
custom wasnt even touched!!!
I'm ticked off and I hope whoever took it burns in
then stabbed cause I work every morning with a paper route to even
afford a paintball gun and to go paintballing for 6 monthes and still
going
but we filed the theft and the police want to put out an NCI (er
somthing ) for them and we need the serial #'s to file one, I did send
in my warrenty card so could I call tippmann and get it from them. or
is it somewhere on the box which I still have (but my friend didnt send
in his warrenty card and he is freaking out so we need to locate it on
the box if it is. so where would the # be on the box if it is?
I'm ticked off cause I love paintballing and I cant afford another
paintball gun for another 5-6 monthes which it will be snowing by
then!!!!

Sorry to hear yer loss yo, theres been alot of markers bein stolen in the last 5 months, its sad they cant be traced like a normal firearm and the only way that can happen if the perp/s gets busted fer using it maliciously, then maybe the original owner can retrieve it from the PD.

tippmann should but a tracker like on starr cars. It might cost more but hey you get you gun back right?

Things like that wont work on any type of marker since theyre all easy to take apart, so a tracking system like On Star wouldnt work.

It still wouldnt work, the best thing was mentioned earlier...to have a friend watch over the gear, infact I did that wit a bunch of my friends gear after I got attacked by a nest of bee's, I couldnt play any longer cus I started having a headache, they went ahead and played while I watched over the gear and trucks in the staging area.

You cant always watch yer stuff, when yer out on the field.
And thats how this thread got started, the guy and his friends stashed their gear, but it seems someone was watchin them to where it was placed and only took the 3 markers and some accessories.

listen, I could talk on about what your mistakes where when you got your paintball gun stolen, but I won't do that. It seems like you've learned your lesson and that you're really upset about it (I know I was when I thought my car was stolen....turns out my dad just moved it though)
However, what you DO need to do is get out and help find it, cause the police hardly ever do get this kinda stuff done (unless they have nothing else to do, and one of the noob cops thinks its an honor to do such a thing) The best thing to do is to go to the lot where you play at, and inform EVERYONE about your gun being missing, and letting them know what to look for.
Since it seemed that your gun was the only one touched (besides your friends) and the other guns were left in the bag, you might wanna recap that day, and try to remember if you ticked anyone off that day. Even the slightest thing could turn someone the wrong way, i've seen it happen. Also note if anyone was watching your gun during the day. Someone may have been eyeying your gun, or just parts TO your gun, and just been waiting for you to set it down for a second.
Inform everyone on what to look for, and for yourself, be sure to check out everyone who has a custom. Don't suspect everyone that does have one, but be sure to look for parts and other things that were on your gun and in the bag. Also, it would be a true idiot to do this, but be on the lookout for your gun at the lot...like if they brought it to play with. Please note that some people think that PAINTING a marker can get them away with not being noticed.
Just keep your cool, and everything will work out fine

I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about. The police never get this stuff done? Might I ask what you think they should be doing. Searching every house within a 200 mile radius? Set up check points on the roads and search every car that passes though?
They do what they can. They probably put something in the log about it, and all the cops will hear about it during briefing. There still isn't much they can do though without a serial number. Your gun isn't unique enough.
Not to put salt in a wound though, but...
I guess I don't get why you left all your stuff there. You said you hid it, left, then came back to pick it up. Did you leave to go get food or something? Or did you leave to go look around the property? I guess I don't get why you left it in the first place.

well this NCI thing that the PD want to put out for it is a national
search for stolen firearms and if I get that serial # if they ever find
a gun stashed away somehwere and they do a search on it I get my gun
back
good thing my dad grew up with the person who is handling this situation (the cop)
btw way here is a picture of what I beleive to be my serial # on the box can anyone confirm that its not or it is
oh and we didnet even leave the feild just went down the feild a bit
where there (maybe 200-250 yards) there was some water to wash off
paint on our hands and face and cool off for just a little bit

It's a shame you got your guns stolen, but honestly...
What were you thinking?!? You NEVER leave your gear alone and walk away for 5 minutes, much less 30!!! And the fact that none of you bothered to keep a record of your serial numbers is even worse...
I sincerely hope that you get your gear back, but unless you can find a legit record of your serial number to prove that your marker is yours, even if you find the person who took it, unless they confess to the police or are nice enough to give it back, you ain't gonna get it.

ok we have all the serial #'s and they are going to be faxed the the
deputy today plus we have garts sports, G&H paintbal feild and
others in the area, Gary's, Winders, all the pawn shops on the look for
them
When we had a trolling motor stolen off our boat the police contacted
police in montana washington utah woming nevada all had pawn shops on
alert for it so I am pretty confident that if it turns out in a place
like that I will get it back
but If I dont I'll get an A-5 with a armson or empire twister barrel and exp chamber

Yeah, even if they didn't tell the pawn shops, they would probably find the people if they did pawn them off. Police agencies get a record of every item that the pawn shop buys off of people. They review them, and often find stolen goods.

if you manage to get the serial numbers, there are multiple websites with sections devoted to helping find stolen markers.
www.pbreview.com - www.pbreview.com
www.paintballtimes.com - www.paintballtimes.com
(check their forums)
those are just 2 that i visit regularly
the best course of action would to go to every proshop in the area and give them the serial #'s and ask them to keep a lookout for them.
EDIT: i forgot, you might want to include pawn shops too

Gbilt shibby , you can find out who the police caught with your gun . tell them about the other guns that were stolen along with yours , (assuming you did already ) , and notify them you want to press charges in civil court , they will release the names to you , and provide you with their reports , detailing , who was in posession , when and where they were caught , what else they had with them , Etc , you might still get all the guns back , specially if your friends (and their parents )can identify the markers . Good Luck !!

K I can go get it back today from the police but my friend was wrong about how they got it
what really happend:
It was one of the peopl there but the license plate didnt find them. a
kid went into one af the Paintball shops to sell it... the guy
recognized it and called the police so they took the kid in and asked
him some questions (after running my serial # through the national
firearm search and it was mine) so the kid is in trouble and he swears
that he only took one gun, but the police dont beleive him so they are
investigating the rest of the license plate #'s and this guy. ( I wish
they could get a search warrent to search his car and house but they
cant for some reason.
YAY I'm happy but there is still $700 in stuff gone including all the stuff in the backpack
