Hey everyone. I've been a member of this forum for about 2 years now, and I've only seen it get worse and worse. The level of respect forumers have for others is pittiful. The amount of spamming and flaming is incredible. And the amount of swearing has gone up. This is supposed to be a friendly forum where people with questions can come to and get the answers they need without getting their heads torn off. So what if somebody likes speedball better than woodsball. So what if someone likes being a sniper and not a frontman in speedball. So what if someone can't type 100% correctly (90% accuracy and above is ideal though). The members of this forum need to start understanding that if they want decent answers without trouble and getting their heads torn off, they need to be helpful with their answers and not degrading. Before tippmann redesigned the site, they specifically asked that we respect all other forumers and not use profane language before you entered the forums. We need to honor that and be more friendly. I just spent a week at football camp where I had the crap knocked out of me. For 5 days I woke up at 5 AM and had 4 full pad practices everyday and didn't go to bed until 11 PM. During that time I learned that the only way to get respect is to give it. I learned that to earn the trust of your teamates and coaches, you have to be a decent and good person (as well as one heck of a football player). We need to stop being so mean and cruel to each other. We need to stop cursing (that includes using smiley faces with censored signs over their mouths and using short types like wtf and omfg). I want to be able ask something and not get my head ripped off. Everyone wants the same thing. Whether your a platinum member or a plain member, everyone deserves just as much respect and courtesy as the next guy. So let's do what's right, let's treat others like we want to be treated. Let's be a harmonious forum. That's all I have to say and I hope you read all of that and will take my words to heart.

^ Well You got some of that right... There is 10x less swearing then what there was... And I've seen some new players around here get some outstanding Information... Before I cam to this forum I knew nothing about paintball, I Didn't even know there were diffrent Barrels for your gun.  All the people on this forum have treated me like I wanted to be Treated, sure I Get flamed somtimes but thats my own fault, I Shouls Search the Topic, and if no luck then Ask aroumd.-------------

before you sign up it says you have to be at least 13. most people over 13 swear and if they dont they at least tolerate it. i dont see whats wrong with swearing on the forums. maybe the kids parents dont like swearing but a. do most parents read over kids sholders? b. since when do kids listen to their parents? and c. if a kids parents let them have a gun (even if it is just a paintball marker most parents see it as a gun) in the house they woudnt mind a little swearing.

For the most part I try to be helpfull. Today I received several pm's about the palmer stab and what to buy and how to install it. I was happy to help a fellow forum member and was honored he/she was asking me for advice. Sometimes I have bad days and take it out on some of the pple here but it is pretty rare. I have been complaining lately about the horrible english some use here. But then I thought about it, maybee that person is foreign and English is his/hers second language. I know my typing/spelling skills arent that great so I should just shut up about the whole thing. Yeah I have only been a member here since the beginning of this summer and have noticed an increase of flamming and swearing. I totaly agree, lets try to keep things in perspective around here and remember that we all have feelings and it is easy to hurt them in any online forum. Anyways, thanks for the topic, I have been thinking about making a simmilar topic, but being a pee-on "member" I did not think anyone would care or they would just end up flamming me.

yea exactly...im almost 17 and my mom would still kill me if i said anything worse then <other name for donkey> and <other word for urine>. my dad is a little less stiff about the language but they both will still kill me if i drop the f bomb or s bomb. just because i have a gun doesnt mean i still cant be polite and considerate. -------------

im not sayin people with guns are more prone wot swear, im just sayin parents that let their children have guns, in my experiences, seem to be a little less strict with stuff like swearing. my parents would kill me too if i used the f or s words. im not promoting swearing or anything, im just wondering whats wrong with it for a forum where people are over 13. arent they mature enough to handle a few words? once again im not promoting swearing, i just dont see whats wrong with it. | Where to begin? My my. Yeah, the forum has gone downhill a bit over the last two years, but it's been worse than it is now. I'm not sait when it comes to cursing, but I try to keep it PG-13, and don't feel I swear gratuitously, however, what consituates profanity to you and what is excessive is up to the individual. Yes, if people want to be treated with respect, they should treat others with it, or at least be so incredibly knowledgable or charistmatic that they make up for it(it happens, but it's always nice to be nice). If you come in here, ask a question that you could easily get an answer to by searching, or even just scrolling down the page a bit in some cases, don't even try to spell correctly or make your post legible(AKA lack of capitalization or punctuation, AOL shorthand), and post again in five minutes complaining about how nobody answered you, expect flaming. Disrespect leads to more disrespect. |
