dare right but i just thought of somthin> on alot of new high preformence cars they use carbon fiber to make it light and aerodynamic, soo have come to da conclusion that if u can run really fast ull be more light wieth and more aerodynamic with a carbon-fibor tank

carbon fiber is light...but your forgetting to add the advantage steel has.

steel tanks only need to be re-hydrotested every 5 years while carbon-fiber need to be retested every 3 years.

also after 10 years (not a problem for most ppl) you have to throw away the carbonfber tank because it can only be rehydrotested 2 times before they wont do it anymore and no store will fill an overdate tank.

steel is also stronger and if you do alot of crawling around and woodsball steel might be better.  but for speedball your better off with carbon fiber as long as you get a cover.

gotta love mike's stupididty ^ steel sounds more strong and indestructible.. like superman for instance... was he the man of steel or carbbon-fiber? EXACTLY but other than that i think the carbon fiber is lighter and just as durable if you add a tank cover... WOULD DEFFINETALLY RECOMEND TANK COVER IF YOU GET A CARBON-FIBER TANK!!!

Carbon fibre tanks usually hold up to a higher pressure such as 4500 or in some cases 5000. While steel only fills up to 3000.

heres da ???? right in 9 years do u think u can make at  least $200, if soo go carbibe fibre

b/c it need to be rehydro'ed 3 times in its life time, evrey 3 years, and it can only last 3 years, so da da math, and they wont refill a tank if it is past the rehydro date

steel, heavier, ull see a differnece, rrehydro'ed every 5 years, and last a lifetime

so bacsailly it really for comfort, soo if u dont mind bying a new tank every 9 years, then get carbon fiber

Personally I would go with carbon fiber do to the fact that its lighter can hold more psi.

Just to clear up some bad information in this thread...

Fiber wrapped tanks have a lifespan of 15 years, not 10.

Most fiberwrapped tank need to be hydro'ed every 3 years, except for the E-11194 Carleton bottles, which only have to be hydro'ed every 5 years.

Steel bottles need to be hydro'ed every 5 years, and have unlimited life. Expect special 3HT steel bottles, which must be hydro tested every 3 years, and have a life of 25 years (I think).

If i use a remote line and play woodsball, would I be better off to get a steel tank since it will be carried in a 6+1 harness, or go for carbon fiber tank.  And if I got carbon fiber tank, should I still get a cover for it even though it is in the harness because I crawl in brush and all and would still likely get scrapped, esp. the top part that is exposed.  Also what size tank would be recommended, not to big, but not too small (cubic inch wise).  Thanks for any help, I haven't really thought about nitros too much, but winter is coming and from what I've been told co2 will be rough in the winter to keep the pressure up when I get a new fill.  And finally, low pressure tank or high pressure tank?  My specs are in my signature.
