ughhh...because it costs money to pay the people who work for them...

And the parts they use are more expensive, and because they know people will pay that much for one.

because with most of the word-of-mouth on being the best/fastest/accurate, and high prices to match, rich kids buy them.

In my opinion the gun is nothing w/o the player. Some people beleive its necessary to shot 500 rnds at one guy and an angel can do that in a short matter of time.

I think that this is prob. the truth to it. They are an English import, so there is that small fee. Otherwise the parts themselves cost very little. (from a manufacturing standpoint) I've wondered the same thing before, but it mainly seems to boil down to this: Because they can, and people pay it.

NOTE: I Do not own an Angel, I own an A-5

Why do you say that rich kids buy them?  If someone has a $1,400 auto cocker you say they are rich too?  It could just be that they have saved up the money over time to get what they wanted.  I hate when people say someone is rich just when they get something nice or expensive.  Sorry its just a pet peeve.

Quality costs. Take a look at (for the most part) the guns you can get for $100. They're poo. The Angel isn't intended to be a gun for everyone involved in the sport... it's for the player who wants speed, ease of maintenance, and a little exclusivity (not sure that's a real word ).

If a kid that I know has been bought an Angel, E-Blade Cocker, etc., yes I will say that they are a rich kid. I completely see what you meant about it being a pet peeve though (BluR930). Even if the kid earns it and saves it with his allowance, he is a rich kid; because his parents give him/her too much money for allowance. If it is truely earned as in employment, which I have yet to see in my life, then I give them mad props; that is rare. When they "get" it - rich. When they "earn/buy" it- worthy of it.

Layman - not neccesarily (sp?), just b/c a kid can save up more than you can doesn't make him/her rich. Some kids are too young to work, so their parents will pay them like 5 or so a week. Maybe they've been wanting this hugely overerpriced gun and just wanted to save up for it. It took a friend of mine a ps2 and 3 years worth of allowance to get his Shocker, and believe me, he's no rich kid, he just doesn't have anything else to put his money into. So lay off

I believe you are paying a couple hundred for the name. Then the technology. Then the quality. The thing is the price will stay that high because people will pay that much. I also think that DYE products are overpriced... $120 for a barrel?!? But then again they probably make the best barrels. I believe that Tippmann gives you the most for the money.

everyones like, if ur a good enouph player, u dont nned the gun,,, well, if ur a amazing player, with crazy accuracy, then u can hit a guy with 30 pb's instead of one, in half a second. plus the guns are lighter, more accurate. more expensive for the wow factor, and allot faster. u dont just need balls to hit ppl, u can use tehm for covering fire... keeping ppl behind bunkers.... so on and so forth.

Angels require lots of milling for all the internal air passages.  Add to this the complexity of the outer milling and that of the frame, and you've got several hundred dollars just into milling the raw body.  (It takes over 100 passes and lord knows how many tools just to make an intelliframe for an automag, so imagine how much time and how many passes it takes to mill an Angel body!)  The electronics aren't all that expensive, but when they add all the bells and whistles, it's no $3 circuit board.  Add anno, cost to assemble, marketing, and you've got a pricey piece of aluminum in your hands.

Some companies spend millions of dollars on a product like this.  This includes, but is not limited to Research and Design, marketing, QA, legal, etc.  R&D can be split into so many different factors as well.  I understand that this is an oversimplification of processes, but you get the point.

Suffice it to say that the marker probably was projected to cost a lot more per unit than it currently is, but that marketing brought it down to where it is.  This is the case with many things.

For those of you who wish to continue the discussion regarding new players with high-end guns, please refer to the following thread.

Angels are some of the best. You get high a quality gun, but you do pay a lot more for the name.

I never really wanted one, always thought they were far too expensive for "just another gun". They never appealed to me. Then, on the field one day, a guy asked if he could try my Rainmaker. We swapped guns in mid-firefight, and he was an Angel owner. Those couple dozen shots changed my mind about Angels.

Try one in a game sometime. They're NICE. And well worth it if you shop smart. There's no need to buy one for $1400 if one that's a little used can be had for $500. Those Angels will still make you giggle, for a third of the price.

They are because they know idiots will buy them because they have infinite amount of money, and never realize that the cost to make it is about 5 dollars.
