I was hoping this would happen!!!
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/olympics/2004/basketball/08/03/usa.italy.ap/index.html?cnn=yes - See what happens when you get too full of yourself? You become an embrassment.
Bad omen
Italy hands men's Olympic team worst loss since NBA players allowed
COLOGNE, Germany (AP) -- The U.S. men's Olympic team did more than merely lose. It was embarrassed and exposed like never before in international competition.
Losing an exhibition game for the first time when using NBA players, the Americans were completely outclassed by lightly regarded Italy, never even making it close in the fourth quarter of a 95-78 upset Tuesday.
The Americans were sloppy with the ball and couldn't handle Italy's zone defenses and 3-point shooting. Italy not only made 15 from behind the arc but also showed superior ball movement and poise in handing the Americans their most lopsided defeat since pros began competing in 1992.
"They're going to be in for a lot of lessons for the next few weeks," U.S. coach Larry Brown said. "It's a young team, and it's a different game internationally."
Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony led the Americans with 17 points, and two-time NBA MVP Tim Duncan added 15.
Italy, whose roster is filled entirely by players from that country's league, was led by Giacomo Galanda's 28 points and Gianluca Basile's 25.
While I am all for the USA Men's Basketball Team to win. They needed to be taught to be less arrogant.

Having a bunch of all-star players doesn't make a team...A group of people that play the game together very well makes a team...
...hmm, seems a little familiar...Soviet Union crushing the NHL all-stars 11-2 i believe back in 1980?

The team is still getting to know each other. They have to realize that they are no longer all-stars. They need to pay attention to the name on the front of the jersey, not the back. Coach Brown is the man to do that. I bet the USA comes home with another gold, but not without a fight. You saw the age, 23.5, they have to grow up quick.

o well, it was just an exhibition..had no meaning at all.
it also helps the cause when your team sinks 15 of 34 3 pointers. not much you can do about that.

Italy had a HOTT game, for sure. They were draining 3s left and right. Not to mention their zone D. USA wasn't expecting this and underestimated Italy. That's all. USA has a really good team, just need some time to work on plays. They got Melo, Lebron, Duncan, Boozer, Jefferson, AI, Odom -- pretty nice players. Wait and see, I still have high hopes.

Yes he would because Larry Clown is a moron and has no idea what he is doing. My proof is the Sixers. He destoryed our team because hes a dumb goon.

only coach to ever win it all on nba and colliegete level.
coached the pistons to huge upset over the lakers.
O, and about him destroying the sixers..he didnt do that, AI did. Did we all forget him leading the sixers to the finals while he was in town?

Right but did we also forget that he destroyed how many teams before he won. How many teams did he ruin then turn tail and run like the coward he is. Also your very dumb and ignorant to think that HE made the pistons win. The whole thing was very nicley set up for him before he got there.
EDIT- Maybe next time you should do some research before you post.

maybe you should do your own research. Rasheed wallace was probably the key piece in bringing home that championship, he wasnt their before the season started. Larry Brown had to of had a hand in that deal.
Your going to tell me that if the pistons would have been able to dismantle the lakers with Rick Carlisle?
The Pistons had virtually the same roster in 2002-2003, and I didnt se them winning, or even getting to the Finals. http://www.basketball-betting-nba-gambling.com/rosters/detroit-pistons.htm - 2002-2003 Pistons Roster
O, and heres more.
http://www.nba.com/coachfile/larry_brown/?nav=page -
Bam
read the 3rd paragraph. That winning record, is not luck. The man knows what hes doing.
If your going to tell me that the sixers are worse off now than they were before larry brown arrived, put down the permanant marker, its messing with your head.

Ermm, I don't pay much attention to hockey as I live in Louisiana, but
I know for a fact that the Soviet Union always had one hell of a hockey
team. This situation is a little different, who would've thought the
Italians could play basketball so well as to make our best players look
like a joke?

Yeah, they did beat Germany on a buzzer-beater. Those kind of shots give your team a whole lot of 'swagger'. And for them not having teamwork, the passing and ball movement of the USA against Germany was quite impressive. Just some more practice, and some more team defense, the USA will once again be unstoppable... and waiting for the Italians.

Haha, he edited it. What a clown, totally owned.
Let's think about this:]
Say that you are some uber team, like Avalanch back in the day. What would happen if you played a few scriamged but let them own you...like totally own you. Well...people think they might get something. We do the same thing in wrestling- ride high and let them think they can work something. Really, you are just setting them up.
Well...same could work here...
