I'm not sure if many people know about this, non of my friends did and they are all into gaming, but they are coming out with GTA 5 (title is in the subject as you can see, or not)  I don't know much about it, but I heard that they based it on a real city, with real stores, roads, things like that, and there are several hundreds of miles that you can drive through.  If this is old news i will just delete this so instead of being possibly flamed, just say thats "thats old" and I will delete it, saving me a little bit of embarassment.

That info was released in April. Nevertheless the game is going to be pretty cool. An upgrade in graphics from Vice City would be nice, along with more missions. I sure hope it isn't based in the 80's like GTA:VC was. Lambos and Ferraris would be fun.

i love GTA. i have vice city and gta3 and gta2 on ps1. i cant wait! ill be up all night trying to beat the fist day i get it.

And guess who the game appeals to? All the posers like me that dont really get into gaming because they dont have time, but want something that they can play, get into, but not have to spend 4-5 hours beating one section of the game because they are missing one little clue. GTA is my favorite series just because of that. I dont have to be hardcore into it, i can always have fun, if i get bored, i can play the game and kill some people, and i dont have to ever follow one story line like in halo where you either do this or the game progresses none.

EDIT: oh and i made a thread about this a while back, like in april or early may when the news first became public, but that was a while ago, so meh.

Who needs a decent plot, or a half decent storyline, or followable characters, when you can shoot police, get drugs and pick up hookers?

Personally GTA falls under the "Teeny Bopper" fad of games. No real depth what so ever, no story, just liked because you can free roam and kill randomlly.

Basically the same people that gave up on MGS because it was "Too boring and not enough shooting".

I am not looking forward to the new GTA. Will the game play be amazing, yes. Will the new add ons to the game be amazing such as complete custimization of your character be amazing, yes. Will the fact that the cities are completly massive because it is three states this time, yes. But will the fact that you are some dumb thug, who wears chains, wears their pants extrmely low, talks like a " gangsta" and if for the most part completly brain dead suck and will the fact that the music will be primarily rap music, yes that will suck. GTA is now just serving out to pop culture which makes me fairly ticked off. While they will make alot of money I still think its a dumb idea to make a game that revolves around rap culture

Any way, I too don't like the rap/gangsta idea, I loved the mob idea, clean, quick, vicious.  We all need a good game to let all our feelings our and to piss off soccer moms and people who think video games cause violence.  What video game needs to give me ideas on how to kill people when I am fully capable of jamming an ice-pick into someone's heart or forehead on my own? 

I loved Vice City, but the main problems were the size of the two islands and the fact you drown constantly.  I'd also like new animations (especialy death animatons, like in Turok 2 ), better car controls like in The Getaway, along with more weapons, tasks, and pickups.  The stupid running/tripping/take away health problem must go, but more tunes on the radio stationswould be nice.  But they need to keep the simplicity of the killing, maiming, and destroying things as a prime feature, the game will end, one way or another and the replay value must be high still.

I hate people who say GTA is not a game. It is a game. I am a gamer. I love almost every genre of video game. Name a game genre and I will probably be able to name atleast 10 games I like for it. I own a PS2 and I will eventually get a Xbox for Halo 2. To the person who says GTA is for people who don't like MSG, you are gravely mistaken. I and all of my friends play both. I have beaten MSG 1&2 so many times it's not funny. Gran Turismo is a beautiful racing game. And GTA 3/Vice City are 2 games that have become a major influence on my life. I love GTA because it is great for every day casual gamer, and it is excellent for the hardcore gamers such as myself. Getting 100% is no easy task, such as getting every Dog tag in MSG2. My first time I got 100% in Vice City it left me wanting more. I have now beaten Vice City three times, and gotten 100% twice. I find MSG2 dog tages too repetetive. Althought still fun to collect.

Vice City have depth far beyond the realm of your understanding. It is not a game. It is a way of life. However it is not a game I play anymore, I cannot wait for GTA: San Andreas.

GTA: SA is not really a state considering it will take place in three major cities. Los Angelos and San Fransisco located in Claifornia, and Los Vegas, in Nevada. Of Course the've been given deffierent names. Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. It will be much bigger then the older versions because EACH city is the size of Vice city. On top of that, there will be 13 rural communities and 1 massive mountain.

The citizens of these 3 cities will no longer be random idiots meanlessly wandering the streets. They will actually wake up in the morining, go out, maybe to work, the mall, or their favorite fast food outlet. Then come home at night. You can plan a robbery on their home when they aren't there. This is mostly speculation hinted by Rockstar but who knows.

I have gone on to long and rambled a bit, being it 3 am. So I will shut up now.

I like GTA in the fact that it's hard to get old, something is always new. If you don't use a guide you can look for secret packages forever.  But there are alot of games that are overated, Halo for one.
