Time for another reminder post on how to use your brain when you post! I've seen this posted by myself and others in almost all the forums out there.. but mostly everyone reads T&O so I thought I'd give it another shot.
We have 9 (Count them) forums that normal members (non-moderators/admins/tech people) are allowed to post in (yes, I know regs is locked to Gold and above)... These are, in order: 1) New Player Forum New to the sport? Get Professional Advice Here! 2) Marker Gallery Show us your guns! 3) Paintball Ideas Got a new idea or a way to improve something? 4) Upcoming Events Tournaments, Field Openings, Scenario Games... 5) Thoughts and Opinions Got something you need to say? 6) Tippmann Regulars Welcome Back....... 7) Which Gun is Best Need Advice? Ask the pros. 8) Upgrades and Customizing Trick it out! 9) Gun Maintenace and Repair Just the Tech Questions These titles are SELF-EXPLANATORY. If you have an idea, post it in ideas. Don't post it in T&O because you wanted "ur opinions lol"... don't post it in New Players because you're new. Use your brain. Similarly, don't ask what gun to get in T&O or New Players... ditto for upgrade decisions, tech help, upcoming events, gun pictures, etc. Come on, it's not that hard. I know I for one am afraid to go into New Players or Ideas because of the sheer volume of badly placed posts.. I'm afraid I'll lose self control and go on a cursing spree, getting myself guested. I think I know the real reason why KRL left for a while. Taking a look at Paintball Ideas and New Players just now, for the first time EVER I didn't see a bunch of badly placed topics, whether due to the mods moving them quickly or because there aren't any idiots posting in there right now. However, I do notice that T&O is FULL of stupid, misplaced posts. Click on the link marked "Tippmann Forum" and go to the relevant place before you post. It makes for better responses (regulars are more likely to help people instead of morons who don't actually know anything, and therefore you're less likely to get hurt by some moron telling you it's okay to shoot marbles through your barrel or something equally dumb), and makes the lives of the mods that much easier.. plus you're not as likely to get a full page of "OMG PUT IT IN UPGRADES AND CUSTOMIZING!! NEWB!!" Luckily I'm not a mod, or there'd be a rule against terminal idiocy, and it'd be punishable by IP ban.. Yes I am a Christian, before somebody flips out and goes "BUT J00R T3H CHRISTIAN, J00 CANT BE ANGRY!!!!11", I'd like to quote the verse that states "Be angry, and do not sin." Luckily.. I haven't done that yet in this post.. that I know of. For anyone just scrolling through my post: USE THE RIGHT FREAKING FORUMS ALREADY!! Thank you. EDIT: We have an edit button too. Use it. And mad props to Hades for the post below. EDIT #2: I'm gonna sticky this until or unless a mod decides to take it down.. PM me or just do it yourself. Or make an official post about it. And to meteora... Uhh.. Upcoming Events? (Which really should be renamed to just Events, IMO). Or if it's a recap of something, in T&O. That kind of thing isn't really the problem, unless you're doing it ten times a day. It's people asking for tech help in T&O and stuff that bugs me. It's for gold members and up only. The welcome back thing is from Old Blue (I think) when regulars were scarce. It's a forum tradition thingy. The last few months it's been really slow, but over the last two weeks or so it's gotten somewhat more interesting. ------------- Is God real? You'll find out when you die.

AdmiralSenn, Have you ever read the posts in the “Welcome back..” forum? They are no different than what’s posted elsewhere. While your intentions may be good, there are a couple of things you have to understand. YOU don’t have to respond to any post that you don’t want to. Yeah, that’s right Admiral, you don’t get paid for this, it’s not your job, you’re not a mod, so what do you care? If you really wanted to help and make the forum a better place, then help. If you feel that a question is posted in the wrong area, then answer the question and then mention that they should put the post in the proper area. Very few people do this. If you don’t like a post, then YOU DON”T HAVE TO RESPOND! Don’t sit there like a child throwing a tantrum, issuing imbecilic threats about how you’ll “lose self control” and such, it just makes you look more pathetic. You have no idea why KRL left, so don’t try to kid yourself or anyone else. If anyone were to leave, the real reason would be because some of the lifers like you seem to have this image of yourselves as the end-all, beat-all forumers of all time. You contribute little to nothing, except for constant criticism of anyone you feel is stepping out of line, when it isn’t your line to begin with. You sit there and complain how the forum has gone downhill, yet you do nothing but complain about it. Yes, Admiral, there’s a thread in the “Welcome Back…” forum as well covering this very subject. You're a Gold member - go and read it! If you want to be viewed as a leader, then lead by example. Post decent questions and ideas. Respond when you can. Help without being overly critical. Understand that not all new forum members have gone all the way through the FAQ’s. If you can’t do the above, then maybe it’s you that should do some thinking before the next time you post. You want a better forum, then take a look in the mirror because that’s where it has to start.

1) Regs forum is, in fact, better than New Players, T&O, Ideas, and Upgrades and Customizing. Why? The people in there aren't so stupid that they make a topic about their dog pooping on their lawn. It's not very active lately, mostly because a lot of regs left when the forum was in super-cussing-editing mode, but at least the posts there are reasonably intelligent. 2) I read any and all topics that look interesting. I do respond and help the person if they haven't been helped already, and I do tell them if they post in the wrong forum. My point is, nobody should need to be told by ANYBODY which forum to post in any more than once. Ever. 3) Imbecilic threats... you said it yourself, I'm not a mod. Explain how me being frustrated and doing something stupid like cussing someone out is a threat? As you yourself said, it's retarded. Knowing a heck of a lot more about myself than you do, I can safely say that if I look at too much stupidity in a short amount of time, I'll do something to get myself guested. This, unfortunately, means that I don't post very often in the "newbie" forums because nine times out of ten I look and there's either nothing new or it's a list of stupidity. I've already posted in New Players about this before, and it dropped to page three or four within a few hours. 4) The KRL thing was an expression of frustration. I actually do know one of the reasons he left. It's called a joke, if you don't get it, YOU don't have to respond either. 5) I'm not a "lifer" and I don't have any image of myself as anything. In fact, I'm usually incredibly surprised when someone sends me a PM asking for help, because I consider the people like rfuilrez and Enos Shenk to be inifinitely more popular and "cool" than I am. If anybody's a "end-all be all forumer" it's one of the folks from old blue. 6) Until very recently, I didn't say anything about the condition of the forum; certainly not on the forum itself. I am NOT one of those people who goes "OH NOEZ TEH FORUM ESH GOING DOWNHILL WE ARE GOING TO BE BANNED" and does nothing to try to help. I try to help out the mods when there's something they're not likely to catch and I do help out people in the areas where I am knowledgeable. 7) I don't care about being viewed as a leader. Unless I'm going to be a mod (which I'd rather not) I am not a leader. Don't care, it's a forum. It's just that when I am here, I would like to read posts that are backed by a brain. 8) You said I should "Post decent questions and ideas, respond when I can, help without being overly critical, and understand that not all new forum members have gone all the way through the FAQ’s. If I can’t do the above, then maybe it’s me that should do some thinking before the next time I post post." Paraphrased of course. What you fail to realize is that I do actually do all of those. You don't need a FAQ section to figure out that a question about which gun is better goes in the forum titled "Which Gun Is Best". 9) Again, starting with me is stupid. I am not a leader, and nobody is likely to listen to me if I were. However, bringing to people's attention what others think and expect is something I can do without flaming everyone, so I do. And if you were trying to make me look stupid, you failed. YOU are the one posting baseless criticisms, and it's aimed at me personally. I've been around this forum a heck of a lot longer than you. That's not a criticism, it's fact, unless you were guested off of an older name from before I joined. You probably don't even remember the way the forum was when I got on here. It was semi-organized. The problems inherent in any group of people who are mostly kids (because we are, for the most part) will grow more obvious as the number grows. The problem is we have almost no people who can provide an example to the new people as to what standard we expect. I'd really appreciate it if you could follow your own advice instead of trying to show up a person who has a valid point. None of your points against me had any factual basis. I make it a priority to avoid making enemies on this forum, but if you want to criticize me, go ahead. Just take it to PM before the mods decide to lock this thread and guest us both. I actually like talking to most of the people here, and I'd rather not have one of the few times I make a useful post be deleted for someone else's problems with me. ------------- Is God real? I stand corrected. As far as understanding your particular psychological profile, if you feel that these are vastly superior, then that about sums it up. This forum isn't meant to be all serious and psychologically pleasing to you. The point is, the regs forum has BETTER threads, cause the replies are wittier, not flames, and more amusing in general. Forgive us for not having a strict paintball only forum. If you took the time to look around, you could probably find the answer to nearly every question inside the sticky threads. And many of those that aren't covered in the sticky threads are obscure, pointless questions that are only asked to raise postcount. Such as "whats the expiratioon date on my nitro?" Any idiot can go look that up somewhere, but they still feel the need to post it. |

I can make ridiculous assumptions about you too, but nobody will believe me unless I back them up. Also, keep in mind that I have been here a fair amount of time. Not nearly as long as old blue, but enough to know when the forum is or is not showing signs of mental activity. Again, before you start making personal attacks on me and my *opinions*, as well as the actual facts that I use, you need some ammo. I've learned from debating with our forum lawyer/mod Rambino how to phrase things in a convincing way, and how to use evidence to support a position. It'll take a lot more than you not liking me to convince me that the forum's general atmosphere is entirely dependent on me. Believe it or not, I do occasionally help out in the other forums (check them) and even before *you* started this diatribe against me, I had been planning to look into there again either yesterday or today.
