No but when I was on football team we trash caned the rotc kids.

(no offense to them at other schools, at our schools they act like they are real military and walk around like they own the place, its very annoying)

Im wanting to so I can become a Heli pilot.

Other than that yeah they do walk around like thier crap dont stink.

Heh, just wait till they get into the real army, they'll be getting saluted but not the good way.

Oh some freindly advice of the day....dont drop the soap.

I'm sorry, but ROTC is a joke. I was in it for two years when they kicked me out because I get migrain headaches. Yeah, part of why I'm saying this is sour grapes, I'd be naive to say it wasn't, but I've talked to officers who came out of ROTC and say it did nothing to prepare them for the real military. I suggest you go to college and then go to OCS.

Rebooting is kinda like duct tape. It fixes everything.

Solid proof right there.

THEY DO SAY IT! DON'T DENY IT!!!

I don't deny it. I have started saying it more recently, all I did was take the h off of hey to make and made it a question. I don't have that retarded cartoon accent, or say it after every sentence.

rotc or reserve officers training corps, is a program sponsered by a branch of the armed service. i am a cadet in mcjrotc or he marine corps' version of rotc in high school. (NROTC is done in college and after you graduate you receive a commision as an officer) in JROTC or the high school version you receive one meritorious promotion out of boot camp after 2 years or ROTC should you choose to enlist. that being said, yes its kinda like super boy scouts. every ROTC is very diffrent, i go to one of the best in the 12th marine corps district (john f. kennedy) and i can just speak from what ive seen in my rotc. we learn basic drill (marching) marine corps history and a value in esprit de corps. we are issued uniforms and have inspectons once a week. we do physical training twice a week and have sevral extra-curricular teams (i.e. exhibition drill teams and color guard) ok hope that lears up what rotc is about a little bit.

Having been in the army for 8 years now, I have seen all sides of the Officer induction system and in my opinion ROTC, OCS and even purely military academies all fail in really preparing the candidates for their role as leaders.

Out of the box so to speak, the ones who were not prior enlisted, all get to their new position as a 2nd Lt and have absolutely no idea what to do with it. Yes they learn history of the military and customs and courtesies and what not, but suddenly they have a platoon of soldiers and they go deer in the headlights. Not all soldiers like being one and all of them have different reasons for becoming a soldier and it is a shock for the new Lt to be in charge of people who aren't like him and his fellow cadets who all had the same focus and goal to become a comissioned officer.

ROTC offiers generally arnt platoon leaders. i can understand why they might not be ready in your eyes, bcause the NROTC program only requires 2 summers of training plus the required courses for commission. IMO OCS does an excellent job of prepairing officers for the leadership responsabilities however. i dont know, obviously your understanding of military life is greater than mine. but these are just the humble veiws of a civilian
