And Enos, you are free to consider it taking advantage.  But I would wager large amounts of money that in just a few years paintball will be flourishing like never before, and we will be able to point to SP litigation as an important part of that.

Not a good read.  An excellent demonstration of lack of understanding of market dynamics.  The US patent office is one of the keys to the strength of our economy.  A common feature among all crappy economies is that they don't protect intellectual property.  The US has strong protections; this leads to innovation.

SP isn't doing anything that hasn't been done a zillion times in other industries, and always, without fail, for the long-term benefit of consumers.  These lawsuits might be tough on competitors, but that's just too bad.  Consumers will benefit.  They always do.

Well, if you want paintball to be underground for the few an l33t, then this is perhaps a bad thing.

But me, I like cheaper paint, cheaper guns, BETTER guns, cooler gear, and easier access to more fields.  Those are all things that will come with the growth of paintball, and SP is helping it along.

As to deadlywind - who is patenting it?  The inventor, right?  I don't believe there is a SP connection there?

Ok, enough of that crap.

I have a viking. It might not be as flashy as some guns, but it cost lot, and is better than most guns on the market. I also consider myself to be a better than average paintball player. While there are deffinitely paople that are better than me, i am better than the majority of people that have played or play paintball.

So, i have an awsome marker, and i think i am a good player. Am i ignorant? Nope. Are the majority of people who are like me ignorant? Nope. Are they cocky or arrogant? maybe. Do you need to think that just because they shoot a $1000 marker and think they are good at the sport that they are ignorant? Nope. thats like them thinking that all woods players think that their tippmann w/ a flatline is the best thing to ever hit paintball, and thay they all want to be snipers.

Anyway, SP ate my bird, thats why i ahte them. 

I couldn't possibly think of getting a paintball gun that was over 800 dollars without being given it through a sponorship...But that's just me...My shocker suits me just fine...It shoots fast, never chops, and its light and accurate...and it's reliable...I do pretty good with my gun and I'm not cocky about anything...I had the money so I was able to afford a fairly expensive gun...for the majority of the people you are talking about are the younger crowd...im not saying all people below the age of 14 but most of them are spoiled and are able to get a dm4 from their parents...and then brag about it...it's just the way everything is...you can get a kid thats just starting to play hockey and his parents buy him top of the line equipment even though its not going to improve much of his game rather than the cheaper stuff at his skill level...

and as for SP...it's the same with everything else...it's life...paintball is growing more and more and youcan just imagine what paintball is going to be like within the next 5 years...there's nothing anyone can do about it...once the genereal public starts getting into it and it has greater exposure than it already does, companies such as smart parts start grabbing everything while they still can to make even more money...the earth revolves around money...i know it's bad but thats just the way things are now a days
