I was just looking at the post for the laser trigger and I got to thinking. How about a touch screen that runs about 1"1/2" down the grip? you know, just like what they put in laptop. no triger pull at all :D. What do you guys think?

They DO have it patented.

Either way, it's not tourny legal. The rules say you have to have a trigger that moves.

I certainly do not want a remote marker and the touch pad seems like a skreewy idea to begin with

This quy i know plays with a lazer meant for pelet guns, but mounts it on his A-5. It has a little touch pad on the trigger, so when you are ready to shoot, you have a beam. Maybe the trigger could be right next to the pad with a tiny pull.

I've got it, some sort of neural uplink, that allows you to fire the
gun with your mind, all you have to do is have some sort of a
node that would be on the inside of the mask, along the
forhead padding that would be able to pick up brain waves,
and you could tune it to any thought, so say I wanted the trigger
though to be "chicken" I tune the nodes to pick up everytime i
think of chicken, and the gun fires. This would also be a great
boon to those who have no hands, as they would be able to
simply strap a paintball gun to their forearm and think away.

mind control would be to hard to think about a chicken and concentrate on where your aiming at the same time.

The idea behind smart parts patententing the idea (as explained by one guy on the AIR forums) is that they probably plan(planned - this is before WDP) to then extend that patent to all electrically actuating triggers, so that they could fully grasp the electro market. I highly doubt they had any actual plans to produce a marker with that kind of trigger actuation - the bugs in the software would be horendous...

No Patrick, Smart Parts really does have this patented.

They thought of the idea and created a patent many years ago, but realised it was a foolish idea. Hell they even advertised it a while ago on their sight before realising it had way too many bugs. It would be affected by numerous things, like humidity causing the gun to fire. Anyone ever tried to use a touchpad mouse with a pen? Doesn't work does it? Needs the warmth of your fingers...well a warm day could cause the gun to misfire, or on a cold day it wouldn't fire. If they used the idea, say good by to gloves.

Touchpad triggers were an idea long dead, way too many errors are possible, and it's plain silly. Personally I dislike super short trigger pulls close to the frame, such as the 03 shocker, and this would be even worse.

Anyways, cool idea at first, but after some thought it would never really work (without major $$ spent on R&D)
