The only reason to buy a dell is...well...
Nevermind, like Apu said, just build your own. It's easy, but if you
need help, you have the entire internet at your disposal to help you
out. Not to mention you have quite a few experts right here on this
forum.

Jeez... This again... DELL's are great PC's.
I won't get into this whole thing again except to say I've been building PC's off and on for 15 years and I buy DELL myself. Half the people who tell you to build it yourself couldn't do it themselves. Only go into building your own PC if you've already built at least one in the past.

that doesn't make sence, you can only build a pc if you have already built one? how could you build your first one if you need to have already built one. if that were true you could never build a pc.
never mind, dell makes pretty good stuff and they have frikin awesome customer support, i'd say go for a dell.

Dells are probably the best of the big computer companies, in my opinion. But I still like the local corner computer shop, personally.

never mind, dell makes pretty good stuff and they have frikin awesome customer support, i'd say go for a dell. | There are classes/courses which teach you how to build a computer. It's kinda risky to build a computer yourself for the first time. And I second what SandMan said. DELLs are great PCs. My family PC is a DELL Inspiron 1100 and its great.

The reason I say build it yourself is you can spend less money and get
a better pc. You also learn in the process. And yes I can build one. I
helped my dad build one and that was about 2 years ago when I didnt
know squat about computers.

I'm telling you this website as a suggestion on where to buy the components to your system if you ever get one. You should do some research before buying any computer, even if it is a dell. Look at the prices for the one you build and the equivalent in Dell, Emachine, Compaq, HP, and other smaller companies. I also suggest you check out www.Ibuypower.com

^^ Creative... Gateways are just like all other PCs. They
are all the same. The same stuff is inside. It would work
alot better if people would build their own PCs.

For the price of an Alienware, I'd rather get a Voodoo or a Velocity Micro..but otherwise Dell suits me well.

Dell is probably the best OEM computer you can get, though it's still more fun, educational, and cost effective to build your own.

Best boot for the buck I've found is IBuyPower.com... Like I say, don't let these clueless moronathons talk you into building your own if you haven't done it before. They've just been told it's easy... And the fact is, it's only easy if you've done it before.

Except for that whole "quality" issue...But yeah that doesnt matter at all...
I also say build your own, i guess that makes me clueless as well.
You gotta be pretty technically declined to not be able to line up
screw holes and plug in keyed cables that only go in one way. The only
way you can seriously screw up is by not being careful with the ram and
static frying it, or dropping the hard drive on the floor.

Because talking to someone in Bangledesh who barely speaks english makes troubleshooting and warranty claims so much easier...
Building a machine really isn't that hard as long as you have someone computer savvy to answer your questions and kind of wallk you through your first time. If you must go with a pre-built, I'll jump on the Dell bandwagon. Just make sure you get a full tower and not the "thin", or desktop, design(I believe the current model is the Demension 4600).

I have a Dell, it's good, havent had any trouble and it's really fast, but then again, with the right RAM and memory/processor, most computers can... If you can build one Id suggest that, but if you can't id go with the Dell
