Yeah, so, I got to solo.

The day after my 16th birthday (16 is the legal age required for a solo), I got up there and took off and landed 3 times. It was a total blast. Nothing like being up there completely by yourself. I just wanted to share because I've been flying for 2 1/2 years, and I couldnt solo until now. I didnt solo exactly on my 16th b-day due to bad weather :-(.

Anyway, heres a pic (i'm on the right, my instructor is on the left)

It was awesome, my first landing was a bit shakey, but still was good. Second landing was better, and the third landing was utterly beautiful... I could barely tell when I hit the ground, and I was smack dab on centerline.

Yeah, well, my folks bought a 2k2 Cessna 172SP two years ago, and we lease it back to the flight school, so they use it as a rental/instruction plane. They pay us for use of our plane, so in a few years the plane will actually pay for itself, so then we'll practically have a free plane (minus fuel and maintenence)

Not a bad plan, eh?

A new 2k2 172 went for about 180K. Fuel costs just under 3 bucks, and you burn 10-11 gallons per hour.

The misunderstanding may have
stemmed from the fact that IJM is constantly
surrounded by beautiful women, because he's such
a high-rollin' pimpateer.

You probably mistook one of his many, many
beautiful sex-slaves for him; a common
mistake

As for people that are saying 180K is a lot... well, of course it is, but you all may be forgetting that therefore I'm learning to fly almost for free (still have to pay for the instructor), and we're getting all the money back from the school.

And whoever said they thought I was a girl... uh...

Aircraft are expensive, even the "cheap" ones. A pilot friend of mine use to say "If man were meant to fly, he would have been born rich."

Not really. Poor people meant to fly, they jump of buildings, it's a short flight called suicide (Cause he's poor)]

And another way to fly is the Good 'Ol USAF.

Well, its tradition.

So I've heard, pilots used to cut off their shirt tails and use them to wipe off all the oil/dirt spray from the propeller (seeing how they had open cockpits.

What this has to do with a solo... I dont know.

Anyway, congrats, that is so cool.
