I am getting this sick ride pretty soon.

it is the 2004 haro extreme x1, it costs $850. it has 5-6 inches of travel in the back and about 4 inches of travel in the front. it is a sweet bike that looks even better in real life. i am a bighit freerider from western oregon where there are alot of trails. after i put this bike through its paces for a couple of years in gonna get this one.

it is the norco torrent. it cost around $1700. it will be my bike for when i get drunk and decide to do the biggest drop off that i can find ( probaly the local high school).
if you ride then post pics of your bike(s) and tell what kind of riding you do. later.

youmOnt is just a poser. he only has a $150 mongoose. mongooses suck and you cant get a good bike for under at least 400 bucks. i thought youmOnt was a expert on bike riding but he isnt. i guess i will take his throne as the official forum bike guy . the type of riding i do is riding down a trail with roots in it and bunny hopping onto a fallen log that is ten feet above the ground then riding down the log and dropping of the end onto the trail again the hitting a 6 foot kicker dirt jump and then doing a 15 vertical drop off. that is what bighit freeriding is. it isnt on the road but in the woods where the real men play.

Yeah, it takes a "real man" to call someone a poser because he can't afford an expensive bike.
Also, apparently if you don't have an expensive bike, you can't be an expert on biking.
Even an "expert" like you can figure this out....
youm0nt > you

Okay where to start. First LEARN GRAMMAR. Also MONEY does not make the bike rider, and if you noticed Youmont is saving up for another bike. Also if you can bunny hop a ten foot high log, then you can get somebody to get a picture of you doing it. I really would like to see this. And who says 400 bucks is the minimum for a "uber" bike. The rider makes the bike, not the other way around. I could go on more, but im tired, so my rant is done.
EDIT. Funky i didn't mean to steal your rant..we posted at the same time.

quite uneccessary. And he knows a crapload about bikes, even if he
doesn't have a real nice one.

what i meant by the 10 foot high log is that it may not be 10 feet high where i bunny hop onto it but it could be pointing up so it ends up being 10 feet high. i can only bunny hop 4 feet high. my friends dad is a former pro trials rider and can bunny hop 6 feet so im sure he can do almost any thing on the trail. the rider makes the bike huh. so what your saying is a 75 dollor Vertical from fred myers will hold up to a 20 foot drop just as well as a Norco VPS Team DH? i didnt think so. all i was trying to say about youmOnt is that he told me a while ago that he had a killer bike that was expensive and he told me yesterday that he has been riding a mongoose, which is only a step above a costco bike. btw what is wrong with my grammar?

Okay thanks for clearing the log part up, and i didnt mean the crappiest bike you could think of. I ment if you gave a pro a mongoose and a Newbie that new bike your getting, who will do better? My money is on the pro. Also i fixed you grammar, spelling, etc. I could've done it more thorougly (sp) but it takes forever to make certain parts in red.

I have a mongoose hoop-d bike. Im usually the crazy guy who does the jumps that nobody else will. I can bunny hop about 2 1/2 to 3 ft. Ive had to buy a new front rim for the bike and i took the front brake off because it was F.U.B.A.R....probably will leave it off cause its not worth spending money to fix it

I thought Haro was more of a BMX company...
Here are my bikes:
I've upgraded the pedals, seat, tires, grips, deraillures, sprockets, handlebars, and suspension on the Kaitai.

be sure to post pics.^^^
check this 2005 Early Launch Specialized BigHit

it looks awesome. i am looking at that instead of the norco. i am for sure getting the haro though. i want my knees to be ok when i get older so i will probaly get full suspensions from now on out. the only thingi dont like about full suspensions is that it isnt good to do trials tricks like the "walk" or the "rear wheel bunnyhop". i can do those on my hardtail but it is way to easy to bend a rim doing it on a full suspension because of the wheel movement. oh, well. it is better than having to have surgery a few years down the line.

Cannondale M900, 24 speed. Not into jumping and such, just my dad owns a bike store and I refuse to get a car until I have to, so he got me a fairly good bike. Manages to hold together despite the abuse it goes through (I've had sprockets bent, sprockets worn, tires twisted sideways, grip shifts so badly damaged that they needed to be replaced, reflectors being completely annihilated despite being in protected, hard-to-hit locations, handlebars twisted out of position so they scrape the top bar and preclude riding, etc etc, but all the stuff that's original has lasted quite well).
Interestingly, both the bike and I have been more badly damaged from near hits than from actual accidents. I've been lucky so far.

that is great. the older schwinns like what you got can be great platforms on which to build a great bike. what bike did your dad get after the schwinn?

Same as some of my friends, they built a ladder like system 15 feet up in the trees by their house. About a foot and a half wide, its wicked. My friend just bought a $3000 downhill bike, and already has a road bike worth at least that much. His kona road bike's frame wighs a toal of 8 pounds or so.

I think that i am at least the forum bike guy from oregon. Munky, do you ride at the shore? post some pics of the trails. i will take a rode trip up to whistler in about two years. until then i have to ride what oregon has to offer. actually there are some wicked mean trails here. i like the bighit with the flames. i want the demo 9 but it is really expensive. is there a demo 8? i have never heard or seen of it? did you blow the rear shock? how much travel did you have it at and how did you break it? post pics of the bighit too! if you want to see the trails that i ride then you can go to the site on page 3 that i posted. there are alot more trails now and bigger and badder obstacles.

| I was asking you too. how long will they have the bighits? i wont be able to get a new freeride bike after the haro until about three years. are they gonna come out with a demo 7? maybe then i could afford it. . i am poor. try to get pics of your bighit.I also ride a specialized. it is a hardrock frame but everything else is high end aftermarkey peices.

I just found out that Gary Fisher is coming out with a line of bighit bikes called the Bigg'n series. there are 4 models, the opie, the mullet, and i cant remember the other two. they are gonna release them this fall. in 2005 they are gonna release a full suspension Bigg'n. doesnt the name Bigg'n sound cool for a bighit bike? the bikes are going to be relativly cheap but are gonna be pretty good freeride bikes. i think the most expensive one for this year is 800-1000 bucks. not to shabby! the best thing is , is i got my job back at the bike shop where i live and we carry Fisher bikes so i will get to play on it everyday around the shop. yah! here is the only pic i could find.

the other models come with disc brakes in back and front.
