1. Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) - Nancy Sinatra

"As a female-sung ballad of heartbreaking lament plays on the soundtrack, we see the credits of "Kill Bill" play over the Bride in her bridal gown, driving to the film's climax.." (excerpt from the script). Nancy Sinatra, Frankie's daughter, had quite some success in the 60s, and while I had never heard of her before, this song struck me the better. It is a beautiful ballad, only accompanied by a sad spanish-guitar tune, and I instantly remembered the scene in the script. It fits beautifully into the movie and is a melody that won't leave your head for a while. A great choice for a "ballad of heartbreaking lament"(QT).

2. That Certain Female - Charlie Feathers

Rockabilly!!! Charlie Feathers hits with this pure Elvis-esque Rockabilly tune! Perfectly resembling the mood of the Bride driving around in the southern states... or maybe the Bar where Budd works as a bouncer? It is a very nice song that will surely pretty soon after release fill movie-loving cafes and bars all over the planet. Sounds a little bit like "Graceland" from True Romance actually. Oh man I love how Quentin Tarantino hits his choices. This song is just perfect.

3. The Grand Duel (Parte Prima) - Luis Bacalov

Eyes.....no wait.... retinas.....frowning... blinking. Two people facing each other in the sunset... ready to kill each other....Spaghetti western! The Grand Duel perfectly puts you in the mood of a Clint Eastwood / Sergio Leone western. As the script says, "Spaghetti Western music explodes on the soundtrack".... Excellent music!

4. Twisted Nerve - Bernard Herrmann

A little whistling anyone? This song is a nice piece of melody-dream-like tune, with some scaryness included and a climax-reaching sound-explosion. May be the perfect choice for flashbacks! Great.

5. Queen Of The Crime Council - dialogue excerpt from film featuring Lucy Liu & Julie Dreyfus

This piece is an excerpt from the movie. O-Ren Ishiii adressing the yakuza bosses. "the prize you pay for bringing up either my chinese or american hertiage as a negative, is, I collect your O:-)ing head!"

6. Ode To Oren Ishii - The RZA

Everyone was curious about what RZA will bring to Kill Bill. Actually, this tune is nice, and RZA tells the story of O-Ren. For my taste a little too "hip-hop"-esque, but perfectly fitting. The tune is increasing in tension and RZA continues to tell the fearce story of O-Ren's life.

7. Run Fay Run - Isaac Hayes

This tune starts with rythmic drumming and gets mixed with bizarre sounds. Then, the full song explodes over the speakers, and what comes out: is a great blaxploitation-like instrumental song with constant rythmic flavor. Brass sounds continue to play and to be honest: This song puts you perfectly in the exploitation mood, QT wants you to be. Once again, a great choice for a soundtrack.

8. Green Hornet - Al Hirt

Only few remember the Green Hornet.... on TV.... Al Hirt's fantastic theme is revived here, and it's great to hear again. A great song that contributes greatly to the overall mix that is this soundtrack. You know, many people will listen to this soundtrack and won't have any connection to this song, because they've probably never heard it. But that's the beauty of it, too. Tarantion brings these forgotten jewels back to life, and so, Kill Bill will start a wave of revivals, not only in soundtracks, but in movies in general, too. And next time you visit your local video story, think of this song, and maybe rent a Bruce Lee movie or some movie you might've read about...

9. Battle Without Honor or Humanity - Tomoyasu Hotei

This is the song that has accompanied the Kill Bill myth for a long time now. Ever since the teaser trailer we know this song. It's from Japanese pop-rock artist Hotei Tomoyasu and also known as "jingi nagatkai". This is the kind of song that BLASTS over trailers now. And it kicks in, heavily. This is my favorite song. The drums, the trumpets, the entire beat of this song is so great. An absolutely unforgettable song that will boggle your mind all the time from now on. If you hear this song, remember, "HERE COMES THE BRIDE!"

10. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Santa Esmeralda

The clapping is famous by now, it played on the recently released theatrical trailer. This Santa Esmeralda flamenco-esque song kind of reminds me of Ricky Martin pop music. But it is more. It's Mexico, it's dust, it's HACIENDA. It's the bride going "krakatoa" in the south. Tarantino wisely chose this song. The clapping is perfect as a score, and the song itself can also perfectly be used. Basically this is two songs, the instrumental part, and the singing part, and both are great and fit the movie perfectly, if you've read the script, you'll know what I mean.

11. Woo Hoo - The 5.6.7.8's

In the very early stages of Kill Bill production, we heard that the asian fem-rockers of the 5.6.7.8's were on board with the soundtrack. Fairly to say, their music is not exactly that common in the western world. Wait. Let me finish my sentence. This is rock and roll, boogie-woogie or whatever you may call it. But with revival asian flavor to it. The 5.6.7.8's did a great job writing this song, as it is just the essence of that music genre. A cool song.

12. Crane/White Lightning - The RZA/Charles Bernstein

This is an RZA-flavored Charles Bernstein tune. An instrumental journey accompanying the Bride's fighting style. This is soundtrack pure. I imagine this as background score for parts of the "Cruel Tutetage of Pai Mei" episode.

13. The Flower of Carnage - Meiko Kaji

Another balad. With slight asian flavor. Sung in japanese or chinese (?), this ballad reminds me of various karaoke scenes in Hong Kong movies. And in the script, there's even such a scene. A nicely sung ballad.

14. The Lonely Shepherd - Zamfir

The pan-flute is a great instrument. This awesome tune brings up Spaghetti Western emotions. It's a thoughtful tune almost with Yoga-capacities. Perfectly brings up the emotional part of the Bride's "roaring rampage of revenge". The flute-tune transcendents into a 100%ly cool sound of epic scale. Awesome choice.

15. You're My Wicked Life - dialogue excerpt w/ David Carradine, Julie Dreyfus & Uma Thurman

Another excerpt fromt he movie. The Bride leaves Julie Dreyfus' character alive to report to Bill. And she tells Bill, what the Bride told her. "I've allowed you to keep your wicked live for two reasons....."

16. Ironside excerpt - Quincy Jones

A great Jazz tune reminding of old Ironside TV times. Blaxploitation fans will instantly recognize this kind of music, unfortunatley this is only an excerpt.

17. Super 16 - Neu!

A bizarre instrumental score that brings up the menace of the Bride. Almost like Godzilla coming to town....

18. Uakuza Oren 1

A piece of score, with rattle sounds. The following 4 samples are pieces of fight score.

19. Bannister Fight

20. Flip Sting

21. Sword Swings

22. Axe Throws

this is the song track

I have the soundtrack, and the main song (played with the crazy 88's) sounded really bad and cheesy when I listened to it, not watching along with the movie. It takes the movie to make a good song a lot of the time.

I dont buy soundtracks anyway.
