My latest project. Great conversion kit from opsgear.
The object at the left side of the tri-weaver rail is a
flashlight. If you want more photos, or a complete
review, let me know here. I would like to say that the parts came in on
Friday afternoon and I had the entire thing completed within 30 minutes.
Say what you want about OpsGear but they make good products in my
opinion and they get them to you on time. They are of good quality and
above all, they look great! If you'd prefer to use parts for airsoft guns,
then that's great, go for it.

I put the 14" sniper barel on at lunch today.... i haven't
used it yet but it really improved the overall look of the
project since the barrel has the "flash surpressor"
built in to it and it's longer. I haven't tested the barrel
yet but will do so this evening.
I also added a laser to the barrel. I shoot some
photos this evening and post them tomorrow...i
might add that this is the same stock (repainted)
from the camo gun in the "New A-5 Project thread."
My hat's off to Opsgear on this one. the conversion
parts went on without a hitch!!!!! and they're right, it's
VERY sturdy!

You bought add-on parts from Opsgear?
Not cool.
Where are the people like jefangel and thompson shooter who take parts from like airsoft guns and actually challenge themselves to make stuff?

I've pulled parts from Airsoft (many sources), JCS, OpsGear and real
military surplus (my foregrips are real AR15/M16 mounts) and honestly,
if it looks good and you like it, I say roll with it. Regardless of
where it came from.
Personally, I'm no gunsmith but I want a cool looking gun (which I'm
working on). Should I HAVE to scour the internet for parts that I MIGHT
could use on my marker? Nope. But I do poke around in Military surplus
and gun shows for the stuff. Sites like OpsGear just make it easier to
find what we want.
To the folks that machine their own parts and do prefab work to come up
with something new, KEEP ON! I love seeing that stuff. Just make sure
that when it gets mass produced that the price point stays affordable.

Yeah, G36s rock. I got a G36 handguard that I made for my 98. I have no money so I have to make all the parts which I guess is half the fun. Gun looks good, but as said before, if you have money, anyone can do it. Still pretty sweet.

This shot shows the new tri-rail that Opsgear is
offering. Note, it won't work on the A-5 without some
milling work or mounting it on another weaver rail.
i agree with you guys, manufacturing your own parts
is fun and lots of times I will scour the gun shows
here for stuff I can put to use, like the M4 carrying
handle on one of my other projects. Then you'll use
something and someone will flame you because i'f
not an accurate piece from an actual weapon. I just
don't get that. I built this one to be a replica and ot a
hybrid because the G-36 is my favorite weapon.

something manufactured for an airsoft piece and
using something manufactured for paintball? I fail to
see the difference.

scope on backwards? Anyways,.....opsgear started out their biz by using
airsoft parts so there really is no difference.

Thanks for the comments everyone. In answer to some of the last
questions, no, the Tasco scope is on right - looks kind of weird but it
works really great. I'll try to find some way to shoot a photo through it so
you can see how bright the red dot is in bright light.
The barrel really isn't that bad. It's no flatline but it's infinitly better than
the one that Tippmann supplies with the A-5. In fact, it's the 14"
Tippmann sniper barrel. I actually kind of like it and it does look cool.
Yeah, I know, "looks aren't everything." It performs quite well!!!! I just put
a three-point sling on it courtesy of Frost Wolf. Thanks dude!!!

I just bought an A-5 and an E-Grip (not installed yet). I plan on ordering the G36 kit from opsgear, also. One thing I've been worried about is what barrel is the best barrel to use with the kit. Will the flatline barrel work with the kit installed? If not, what should I buy instead?

If you go to opsgear's forum that question will be answered better. But
i believe the stealthline barrels look awesome with the g36 kit.

I personally just can't understand the thrill with "mil-sims". I mean, if it doesn't do anything for the actual performance, why have it there? For example the mag that's clear so you can see the fake bullets? I don't mean to sound like I'm insulting anyone, I just don't understand the need nor desire.
Again, no offense intended at all. Obviously you've put a lot of time and money into your gun.

It adds more action, gets you involved even more.
For some people having a real looking marker rather than something that
looks more toyish can make the game of paintball more fun. Most
milsimers are people that enjoy first person shooters, action movies,
or anything military. (at least thats how i am) But if you dont dig the
real feel, you wont understand it, but alot of people do.

Lot of folks are asking about the black cover on the

over the gas tube. It' keeps paint off the braided tube

I never heard of it before, and I took a lil tour through their neck of the woods, and I must say that I was QUITE impressed!! I can see that others frown upon it, but it doesen't really matter to me, because my crew and I go for realistics as far as looks, only problem is that my crew was just sent to Iraq for the better half of 2 years, so there goes 7 members of a 12 player crew. But factor of the real look, and feel make it a much more dramatic sport in MY opinion.

Here's an idea I haven't seen anyone do. If they have, I haven't seen it.
Take the grip assembly from an A5 that's had an egrip installed and has a
flatline barrel. Remove the triggerguard. then attach the grip to the
flatline using black cable zip ties available from Radio Shack. The grip
assembly should have three holes already in it (third from the removal of
the safety). Wonder what that would look like?
Somebody try it and let me know...or I'll try it myself...

[QUOTE=JaketheSnake] I've always wanted to do a milsim type deal
with my A-5 but some of the prices for kits are terrible. I made the
decision that if I did I would try to do it for as little money as possible. I
collect firearms already take a look at my russian ak http://

Do you think I could just take extra AK parts and make one? [/

You probably could but seems that it would be rather cost prohibitive you
know. And, if the parts are there, why reinvent the wheel? (Nice Ak BTW)
Here's my AK Spetznaz:

There are a lot of comments about converting airsoft parts to fit the
Tippmanns and to be honest, I think that however you choose to convert
your marker is fine. Choose whatever method you want. That's what
makes all this so much fun isn't it. I mean, as long as you're happy with
the final product what difference does it make how you arrived at it? The
only problem with manufacturing your own parts is that you have to
spend the time figuring out how to attach various components so they'll
stay put.
I've now converted 4 Tippmann A5's to various stages. Most of you have
probably seen most of them I think. I prefer to use Opsgear because I like
the service I've gotten from them and the parts have been exactly what
they advertised. And, they're really not that bad price-wise. I've been
looking at the markers you all are posting and the majority of them are
very good!
