I am doing mods to my sterio and can you touch the wires leading into a subwoofer while they are hot?  I need to try a few things before I put the new one in, and I want to try some things.  Its watage is 120W.

It is too much work to turn it off because the system has to warm up for about a miniute when it is turned off

That depends on several things, like wattage, conductivity, and the level of grounding that you have.

It depends on what wires you are touching. Do the smart thing, power down first.

I guess I am 10 of 10, this is going to be a suplement to my current COMPONENT STERIO sub.

just wait for them to cool off, or disconnect whatever power source you're using.

They're speaker wires.  You could lick them if you wanted.

Put the two wires on your tongue to cool down. No need to unplug the stored energy is the same. residual energy OR stored energy  still exist after shutdown it must be completely deenergize and deactivated.

i wouldn't suggest wiring it hot. The 12v isn't much at all, but its a lot of amps.

Plus you run the risk of peaking your subs, not comfy when your right next to them.

I mess with them live...but crossed them, blew a fuse, sucks. Never been electrocuted though, just don't cross them or touch both at once.

Oh no, you have to wait a full minute to work on it safely, not a minute! Just wait the extra minute and play it safe. This isn't the best place to ask "professional" advice

volts dont kill you, amps do.
