Well, I see from the gallery section that there are several of us that play pump. Why not have a thread for the Pumper? Well sink or swim, here it is. This is for anything pump related from games, to ideas, to general questions about pumps from the uninitiated. Never played pump and curious? Ask here. Enjoy!

Meteora- how are you gonna run the cocking rod? Have you already formed a plan, or is this in theory right now? The reason I ask is because of how an SL is laid out; I don't see how you could do it. I have a Chameleon Kit for a Trracer, and most Nelson based guns are side cocking making it easier to animate.

I ordered my 45. VSC Phantom, Clear Parts and a trigger shoe for
Doro and can't wait for it to come. Also, any opinions on what stock I
should get b/c I didn't like the T-stock. Also, the PHOG forum has a
really good tactics section.

I have a phantom, a PGP2K, and an SL-68II. All great guns, and I start every paintball outing playing pump. (First the pistol, then the phantom) If I can keep up that day, I keep playing pump. But every now and again I have to get out the 98, usually when I'm out of practice, but sometimes when the field is too aggresive.

No way to refill them, but I save mine for the metal... you can sell them to certain places as scrap - then you can buy more. (It takes MANY MANY pounds of them to be worth anything really)

I keep my old 12g's too. I make a point not to dump them on the field as a good example for the refs and other players who might try it.

The reason you can't refill them is because to access the gas, the 12g is pierced. Can't refill it with a small hole in the top. They aren't terribly expensive, and the PGP2K gets a few full loads off of one 12g.

If you ever have the chance to play with a pistol on the field, I highly recommend it. Be prepared for an entirely different kind of game though. You'll be faster at running but slower at firing. Picking up your rate of fire when you need it is all about mastering the rock n' cock.

Part of the inspiration for this thread. No pumping was topic-ed here. The Picture thread had become the main pump "hangout". That was mainly pictures, so I figured that the New Players forum would be a great place for pumps to be discussed.

One of the things I like about playing pump is that other players, especially the ones with higher end guns, tend to write you off as any kind of threat. At least at first. I like using that to my advantage and getting to move more on the field. And creeping around pillars in the cave is very easy with the pistol. I can press flat against them and they don't see me coming until it's too late, more often than not. (It's kind of dark in there)

One of my favorite pump moments was at the caves. I was pinned down in this little crevice by a guy with an autococker, revvy, HPA, all the good stuff. He was on a team and had his jersey on. He was maybe 40 feet off behind the next pillar and he was laying into me. I'd peek out and he'd shoot and shoot, but he couldn't advance because my team was placed pretty well, and he had no teammates nearby to try and bunker me. I let him fire his hopper at me, and then he reloaded. I waited and peeked out again. He dumped another hopper at me. When he stepped back to reload that time I went running, slid in in front of where he'd been stepping out and waited. He finished reloading and popped back out, aiming where I used to be. I gave him one in the chest just as he noticed me down there on the ground. :)

Not spectacular, but it was fun. He spent almost 20 bucks in paint on me, and I spent a nickel on him.

it means that the air source is vertical. (not trying to be a jerk) Most likely you saw "VSC" Phantoms.
Here is a "back-bottle" setup:

This would be "vertical air" setup:

Moments like that kinda stick with you Reifdom , that was a great example of skill over firepower , LOL !! when I had my PGP , I didnt have enough skill to outfox anybody , just ambush them !! Wonder about now ? , Gawd , paint is so spendy , Hmm,if I got a pump , I could afford to play more <grin>

SL-68 II's are really nice. Just be sure to use a large bore ball in it. The "window" at the bolt causes small bore balls to get caught, and chopped; if you're not too careful.

Try countypaintball.com ? , IDK .

Woot for me , I just sealed the deal on a SL68-II !!

The Pro's at my local field have some fair amount of Experience with them , so I may get some real good advice and hints from them .

LOL, I wont be spending so much on paint either , so I will be out more too

I just used my PGP yesterday (because my Phantom hasn't even

was terrible. Does any1 know how to improve this?

Try a different paint. Too small of ball will let too much air out around it to fly well, and the balls that are too large will have trouble coming out. All in all you should get roughly the same distance as a regular gun.
