hey i think iv found a way to get affordable backspin.  put something rough in the barrel, at the end, that would catch the ball and slow it down on one side. not rough enough to pop it, of course

If you can make it work, that's great.

If it were that easy, I can assure you someone would have already done it, and it would be on the market.

tried it, I polished the bottom of the barrel and roughed up the top, the spin an exact speed its all too delicate to just shave something on the top end of the barrel.

Great idea though.

YA people started testing by putting scotch tape into the BACK of the barrel for spin, and it was decent.

but with tippmanns the air coming from the front bolt isnt always even. example there might be more air hiting the ball on the left causing spin. so if the ball is having spin when it hits that rugh part its going to go crazy. the flatline take away all of side to side spin and add back spin.

How often to tippmanns with normal barrels curve when clean?  It add so little spin it isn't noticable, so it would work.

Actually, there is another barrel that equals the Flatline but, the only thing is that you cant put it on any other marker except fer the marker it was made fer....its called the "Hop Up barrel" fer the Warsensor milsim markers.

paintball/fluid dynamics - if you rough the top, then polish the bottom, the paintball (which is already oblong due to the forces) is going to get caught at the top and go smoothly at the bottom. The fill however will keep on traveing, the oblong is now at anything up to a 45 degree tilt (consistency cannot be guaranteed). A) this will never fly straight and b) god help you if theres any backspin at this point, the ball will look like a bumble bee going up and down. The flatline works by applying centripetal force to the ball, giving it backsping therefore the deformation is minimum and regular, thus giving you some degree of accuracy. Plus, if you did polish the bottom and rought the top, the velocity would decrease, thus you would have to apply more force to the ball, which when rubbing agianst the rought part would make it liable to break.

Have fun!
