ok im gettin a a5 for a project and i remember hearing soem
things about the cyclone not operating well with HPA without a
"diffrent" plate in it? , like one plate is black and the other is
clear? and one works better or something, id like to know how i
can find out because i'll need the cyclone feeding at its best
with HPA.
thanks in advance

the cyclone works fine with hpa. actually, i recomend it.

the only problems that occur with the cyclone (hpa or co2) is the rachet. its the clear peace that rotates the star. its made of a plastic-ish material, and its "racheted" with a metal rod, the rod starts to wear on the ratchet a bit.

i went through 3 of them on my a-5. other than that, everything worked fine

The plate thing is correct - you need updates #1 and #2 from Tippmann for your Cyclone.  Update #1 is the clear ratchet, update #2 is the new bottomplate to stop the clear ratchet from wearing.

The new bottomplates have an "A" stamped on the bottom.

Both updates are free from Tippmann.

a-5s now come with those stock, older ones needed to be sent back to get the new stuff.
if you buy a new a-5, you wouldnt have to worry. if your buying a used one, look for an "A" on the bottom plate

the a isnt hard to find, its right on the bottom plate near the pump rod. just look at the bottom of your cyclone and you'll see it

CO2 tank pressure varies, but a full tank can often be 900-1000psi.  Nitro tanks are more consistent, and usually set at 850, but some tanks are set at 800 or 750psi (Crossfire is 750, I think, for instance).

That is plenty pressure to run your gun, but it makes sweetspotting harder.  If you go nitro you should look for a tank with 850 psi to maximize your sweetspot, and then you can visit http://www.a5ownersgroup.com - www.a5ownersgroup.com for some DIY trigger jobs to help more as well.

But yes - it is usually easier to sweetspot with CO2.  But with nitro you can sustain longer bursts.
