i want to make my operating pressure lower and i was thinking about like putting in a new valve pin or putting a o ring in the valves hole. has n e one done this.

dont think it would work. just make your velocity lower.

The only way to lower your operatiing pressure is to use a regulator.

So how would putting a valve pin or an o-ring in the valve make it lower pressure? All stuffing an o-ring in there would do is restrict your airflow giving you more chance of shootdown instead of lowering the pressure.

A regulator will not lower your operating pressure. It will only maintain a consistant pressure. If you have a low pressure valve, then yes you can set the reg to a lower pressure. But it isn't doing anything to lower your operating/cycling pressure. A regulator has nothing to do with the internal workings of your gun so it wouldn't affect what pressure your gun needs to operate. Do not just get a regulator and adjust it down. It won't change the fact that the stock CVX valve needs about 800psi to operate. All that will do is starve your valve and get major shootdown.

Either get the LP Valve from the LP Kit (you can get it seperate from some places), or get the LP spring from the LP Valve and put it in your stock valve. You can also mill out the inside channels of the valve to get a higher flow rate. But you'd really need to know exactly what to carve out. Anyone know of a how to guide for a homemade lp kit/valve? I remember I saw one before but i can't remember where.

There's too much involved in trying to lower your operating pressure without the lp kit. The valve has to be modified to allow a larger, low pressure volume of air, the hammer must be replaced with one of a lighter weight, and a different mainspring would also be needed.

I suppose anyone with a degree in engineering and access to a machine shop could knock one out easily enough, but Tippmann did that for us already by making an lp kit.

Um, yes it will.

Changing the valve spring and opening the channels on your valve for more air flow, will ALLOW you to lower the pressure and keep the same velocity, but you'll need a regulator to actually lower the pressure.

i think warbeak was thinking about an expansion chamber

I highly doubt that.

What I believe warbeak meant was that just by slapping a reg on your Tippmann you can't make it low pressure. The stock valve is designed to work at 700PSI+. If you drop the pressure down too much not enough air will escape the valve, your velocity will suffer severly and the blowback won't be sufficient to recock the gun.

well nn did this to his gun and he said it helped alot, he just made some custom pin or bought one so it would seal better in there. but im going to buy a lpk i was just trying to figure out what other things there r to do i have a lil more knowledge about this.

That's what I meant. A reg alone will not lower the operating pressure of your gun. It will only set a certain input pressure and keep it stable. The pressure that you can set it at depends on your gun's operating pressure. In any circumstance a regulator does not make your gun run at a lower pressure, it just lowers the input pressure. Input and operating pressure are two very different things. A reg will never lower your operating pressure. That's what this guy wants to lower. He'll need either an LP kit or some custom mods. You don't need a degree in engineering to do the mods, you just need to be confident with drilling out your valve. I'd just buy the LP kit. Get em on ebay for like 80-100.

Actually the LPK is a really great upgrade. It really improves almost all performance aspects of the marker. And if you can even better modify the LPK valve, then it's even better. Poop is a 21" barrel. LPK is more like a philly cheesesteak sandwich...

and some people drill out the hole on the vertical adapter to 3/16 or wat ever it is, well what does that do just make the flow better.
