I played in a private group over the weekend. Every couple of months
we get together and play. Anyways this past weekend we played at a
new place and a couple of regulars there joined us. After a couple of
games I noticed that all GUN HITS weren't counting. All previous
gatherings we counted them. After the game we met as a group to
talk about it. My reason for counting gun hits is it deters people
from blind shooting and using the marker as a shield. The regulars
who talked to the ref and suggested we don't count gun hits said
that in "real" combat battle if you get shot in the gun you don't die.
What are everyones thoughts on this subject. I'm a relatively new
player, only been playing for about a year. Same with my group. I
would love to here from exprienced players on this subject.
Thanks

Personally, when I play we play if your gun IS hit, you're out. I know that in tournaments if your gun is hit, your out also. But I think that in scenarios and things of that sort, that maybe they can be allowed.

You don't die, but your gun wont function anymore, so what's the point of staying in if you don't have a backup?

In "real" combat, if you get shot in the gun, you will most likely die
from the pieces of the gun cutting into your skin and tearing your
organs out. If you don't, you're just as good as dead because you
have no way to fight back against your enemies who have guns.

ahhah No gun hits?
THat's the lamest thing I've heard...
If you get shot in the arm, leg, or shoulder in combat you don't die
most of the time...So why don't you get rid of arm hits as well?

it depends who i play with. Honestly, I like the idea of counting gun hits because it prevents a lot of people from blind firing.

| Seriously. Gun hits always count. No matter what. Hopper hits count. Tank hits count. Goggle hits count. ALL HITS COUNT, unless they dont break...

Gun hits should count, blind shooting dosent take any skill and I've seen people use their gun as a shield.

Sometimes you do....its called Playin Vitals. If your hit in the arms and legs you can stay in seeing as how you can still funtion without them.
I say play however. If you want to follow tourny rules, play with gun hits. If you just want to play for the sake of playing, don't count em.

I've played where only Torso shots counted as Outs , and both of the other ways mentioned, it matters not , as long as all play by the same rules , and honor them .

If they do body hits only, anyone with an Impulse will rule the field.
One of the fields in Orlando has a "bounces count" rule.. which even the employees protest. I mean, it's PAINTball... etc.

I don't believe this conversation is happening. Of course gun hits count. If you want to play outlaw ball in your back yard, do whatever you want, but in the real world, a break is a break. Use your gun as a shield? Are you for real?
If it will get you a purple heart in real life, it will get you out in paintball.

I figured, people can start turning their hoppers sideways for a little
better coverage.
One more reason why I like it when gun hits count.
