I've been at college for three weeks now and everything has gone well with classes and friends, except for my roomate. I don't have any personal issues with the guy other than he smells like smoke and doesn't clean up his stuff, but he seems to have a problem with me. For some reason he cannot sleep when I am on my laptop, watching a movie, playing a game or doing homework. I thought this was weird because I can sleep fine even to the sound of a key board or the ambient light of a computer screen. So i suggested to him hat maybe one of us should move out, if my computer habits are stopping him from sleeping, because it is unreasonable to ask someone to not be on their computer. Here is where things get tricky. I don't want to be the one to move and niether does he, but i feel that because I have made friends with people in the hall, and he hasn't i should be able to stay. Is this a reasonable request?
I also suggested to him that maybe using earplugs and wearing a sleeping blindfold would solve our problems, but he pushed the idea aside and said he wouldn't be able to sleep wearing those things. What should I do? ------------- All about the Snow. |

jk i dunno im not in college so i dont know what your area is like but is there anyplace like a lounge you could be on the labtop? maybe you could hang up a sheet between your beds or some kind of barrier so it blocks the light as for sound i dunno -------------

I'm only 14, so I don't know how to deal with this, but I'll give it a
shot. He should leave because he doesn't clean up the
place. And, since you have friends, you should get to stay.
He wouldn't be missing anything if he left, but you would lose all of

I had a roomate that I hated last school year. By the time we both moved out we had done so much stuff to each other that we will never speak again. In fact I will hunt his pics down online to show you how much I dislike him.
See if there is anyone that you can easily switch rooms with. If you dont get along at this point you never will get along with him. If he wont move, then it is best that you do. Trust me, it will be better in the long run. -------------

I like your ideas and all, but i don't know how easily i'd be able to kick his ass, we're about the same hieght but he is probably 70 pounds heavier, and i'm not really interested in fighting him anyway. ------------- All about the Snow. |

Oh and one of my suite mate's whom i hang out with just told me that my roomate made his room smell bad when he used the bathroom. another reason for him to move. ------------- All about the Snow. |

My sister had a blind girl living in her sweet that used to completely
miss the toilet in the sweet's bathroom...No one ever wanted to clean
it up so everyone just started to use the hall's bathroom

Get him some earmuffs, and those things that cover your eyes, i use them even when im in my own room alone. I dont like any sound or light when i sleep. -------------

LOL, try suggesting , or surprising him with a heavy curtin around his/her "bedroom" , that they can draw around them at night , use heavy fabric , will block light and muffle sound , and for you ,,, I would suggest a Can of Ozium , hospital grade disinfectant/deoderant . ------------- SL68-II , micro honed and polished .688" bore . Tell your RA that you are having problems. Poor hygene is bad, I think I contracted Athletes foot from my roomate, but that was the worst thing health wise. -------------

You should give him more reason to move out. Be realy obnoxious when ever possible. Turn your computer volume way up at night. If you have a TV in your room play workout videos non stop. That kinda stuff. Ill bet if your an  to him he will move right out. ------------- By the time you see me, you will have already been hit. |

that's a good idea, but then i would move out. I want him to leave, and I don't think i could very well have my RA move my roomate to another room. ------------- All about the Snow. |

Dude, as hard as you think it would be to move out, I suggest doing so, as soon as possible. If you dont get along now, it will only get worst. Trust me I went through it all last year. I wish I had moved right away. Looking back I would have paid the extra 200 bucks a month to have my own room. Good Luck. -------------
