I hate to post here, because theres a certain stigma attached to any posts around here (namely you're a 14 year old who dosent understand paintball physics/mechanics and therefore dosent understand why their ideas wont work, plus the many reoccurances of paintball knives/tanks etc.). However, I was wondering if anyone has any experience in milling 98's to the extreme? I was wondering how far they could be cut back? My first thoughts were to take an old school m98 and mill into the gills until they went all the way to the bolt (as they are not parrellel with the face of the bolt, it shouldnt jam, as it is always touching at least one part) and possibly mimicking this at the back? I have been thinking about this for a while now, and I just saw this cocker (http://www.triggernomics.net/xlview.php?img=mcd001.jpg) and wondered if this kind of thing was a possibility with a tippman? Would there be problems with gas excaping before accelerating the paintball? The blowback should not be an issue, as the power tube would not be touched, and the force is applied to the rear bolt while it has a seal inside the back of the powertube.
Any thoughts? Preferably not "that would be cool" or "tippmanns suck" :-)

Anything is possible with enough time. Triggernomics cocker isnt meant to actually function though, its just a piece of art.

i say cut as much as you can off. so you can show us.
mill of lettering, rear site, the gills, the linkige arm area, area around the va, then turn the grip into swiss chease or cut it out all the way.
after all that tell us how light it is and wether it still works(it should) and find if you can do anything else

Kevin Z - thats exactly what I want to do, except i want to hopefully extend those gills all the way down the gun. The grip I would cut out the center, and then I'd look at what else can come off (the rear site maybe).

Sounds like you and I have to pay Mr A a visit!
The only problem with milling gills is poor poor poor gas efficiency. I reckon most of the linkage arm area can be taken off, as well as the rear sight. The letters easily, and gills where the valve tower tube is and valve body...that way not too much gas will be wasted. A lot of meat can be taken out of the frame and foregrip. The raised area around the velocity adjuster can be grinded down. Come over soon and we'll strip it down and check it out.
Just thought, instead of taking the gills off, what about doing something like gills all the way down the gun? Not exposing any internals, but taking off some meat.
If we mess up, you will be buying me new receiver halves.

you dont lose gas effeicency by milling gills. the o ring on the front bolt is there to seal the barrel any extra air that would come out the back of the front bolt and therefor aout the gills would have gone up the loader so its all just more efficent
