Hey, I was wondering if anyone here has an ipod, i am getting one for my birthday but dont know if i should get a mini or a regular, the regular can hold more songs and can use more accesories but the mini is $50 cheaper

i guess i need to know how much memory things like audio books, games etc take up because i am planning to get those

Yeah I LOVE my ipod , Mine is black  http://www.colorware.com - www.colorware.com

Uh if you have less than 5000 songs then you will have plenty of space for other things.

Dont get a mini. I suggest you get a Gen 4 instead of a Gen 3 as Barrel suggested. Gen 4s are just so much nicer/easier to use. (I have a 20Gig)

Different scroll wheel, slightly different interface...

I just bought a 40 GB about a month ago...

I figured, in that price range, an extra 100 isn't that bad for a $50 accessory and the ease of mind of never filling up the memory...

Unless your set on the mini, go for a latest generation full size...

Yupp what he said. The click wheel is so much nicer in my opinion. Im not saying the 3rd gen iPods suck or anything. Im just saying there a little easier to get use to.

I say get what YOU NEED, if you only have 200 songs, then why would you need the one that holds 5,000 songs, and battery life isn't that big of a deal I don't think.

gen 4 just has a new interface and has the buttons in the scroll wheel instead of on top

Read some reviews. Last I heard, minis had a pretty big design flaw that made the sound go screwy.

I got the 20 GB, because it's a generation above the 15 GB so it will have fewer flaws, and for a year and a half before it burns out I coudn't imagine using more than 20GB just on songs.

This is in very, very, very few mini's.

But yeah, go for the 4 gen normal iPod.

Ive got a 3rd gen 10gb ipod. My experiance tells me that you should go for the new 4th gen 20gb for $299. You are gunna use it as a hardrive as well so you are gunna need the extra space. right now the 20gb 4th gen is the best deal. it has a 15 hour battery and a cool click scroll wheel. you cant go wrong with an iPod. just cause it costs $50 more than other mp3 players at its level you cant beat the quality that apple gives you. i khnow some guys at ipodlounge.com that have had their generation 1 ipods eversince they came out. If you have any questions at all you should visit www.ipodlounge.com

As far as I know, the smallest 3g iPod was 15gb, and the 4g has a 12 hour battery life.

For real, give them a year, they'll be gone.

I got a mp3 player from RCA.  6 hours of music.  Do I go anywhere 6 hours from here? No.  It's all just to say I got 40 Gigs.  Meh.......

iPods have been around for about 2 to 3 years, I know I've been wanting one for about 2.  I also know I will never fill up 40 gigs of music but I will use it as a portable hard drive, and that will be useful.  iPods are a fad, yes. But there is some praticallity to them, and once the prices drop on MP3 players, I think CD's will fade away into MP3's and other digital storage devices (i.e. thumb drives and the like).  Just as cassete tapes and floppy disks have.

I have a 4th gen 20gb Ipod and I love it. I don't really like how the battery runs out pretty fast though.

Have you considered a different brand. Iriver,Creative.

Creative Nomad's are sweet, the new ones are cheap and small.
