Subject: Have you ever thought?
Date Posted: 08 September 2004 at 4:05pm
Well, I am in an Astronomy class right now, and I have always been
interested in Meteorology,Chemistry,Space..etc. Today we got more in
depth with the Big Bang theory, and all the time while he is talking, I
start thinking to myself all of these seperate questions that I have,
that he or no one can answer. So now I want your thoughts.
Have you ever wondered where the Universe itself came from? I mean, We
know how and where the planets and stars came from. But what was the
universe before the Big Bang? Was it just all black vastness? If so,
where did that come from? How was it made? And then what made that?
Just some pretty mind bogalling questions I ask myself, then scare
myself with. I have plenty more, but now I want to hear yours and what
you think about mine.
Oh BTW: Pretty soon, during a 3-day period, I am going to stay awake
the whole time, and write down what I think or come up with. Think
about it, people that get really into math equations trying to come up
with something genius, or to solve something, they stay up for days on
end, that's why we think really smart people are crazy. My teacher was
telling me how he got very little sleep during a 3-day period and came
up with so many questions, that were logical, it scared him. He just
forgot what they were, that is why I am going to do it, but write it
down.

Well, forget religion. What if there was no religion, and therefore we
didn't believe in God. I am just trying to open up your minds, and when
you always rely on the same thing, it's kinda hard.

questions I have, and wanted them to have to do with other things than
religion. Like what YOU believe, not what we were taught to believe.

Black holes are vortex's in space which have so much gravitational
force it would literally pull your head down through your feet..That is
of course assuming you go into one feet first. They might lead to
something but there is nothing that we have made yet, that can
withstand that force. Remember, black holes get smaller in circumfrance
the farther you go down. They don't know how small it is at the bottom
of one.
Scientists are now looking for Black holes throughout space, thinking
that possibly a our universe will some day run into one. That is
because we are an open universe which is always expanding. Rather than
a flat universe or closed universe.
BTW: I don't want it made simple for me. I like hearing your thoughts.
Maybe I will hear one that I won't even know how to begin to explain.

I have never seen that picture. And yes, the universe is made up of
many galaxies. I think that picture was altered in some way, and if it
wasn't that would be considered one galaxy right there.
We are in a galaxy similar to it. The Milky Way Galaxy. It is a spiral galaxy. There are many forms of galaxies.
However, ours doesn't have somethig equivelent to a whole galaxy in the
center. I am going to look up some things on that picture...

Slight problem with what you just said.
Number one, a black hole is little more than a massive object in
space. Most, if not all, black holes are stars that have
basically swollen to around 1 million times the size of our sun and
larger.
Nubmer two, sicentists cannot SEE a black hole, hence the term black
hole. They are so large they suck in light as well. We look
for large disterbences in space, collections of radiation and matter,
hawking radiation, and we detect objects and know because of their
size, they must contain a black hole.
As for the idea of black holes leading somewhere, consider this : by
the time you reached the singularity, you would probably be streached
out a mile or so, and once you reached it, you would most likely be
crushed to death. How on earth would you survive to get through
the black hole? Even then, you are forgeting these wormholes
would be so unstable they would collapse the second something went
through them.
Here is a good question though : When did time begin? What
would things be like if nothing existed, not life, the univervse,
nothing?

I'm not religious so I'm not gonna get into that part of this thread
but I do applaud you for thinking deeply like that. Too many people
today think that just because something doesn't effect their lives
directly or just because it doesn't matter in their day to day life it
isn't worth talking about. I also believe in discussing just to
discuss. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that out there and also tell
you that the whole 3 day thing is a really cool idea that I may steal . Later.

Black holes are vortex's in space which have so much gravitational force it would literally pull your head down through your feet..That is of course assuming you go into one feet first. They might lead to something but there is nothing that we have made yet, that can withstand that force. Remember, black holes get smaller in circumfrance the farther you go down. They don't know how small it is at the bottom of one.
Scientists are now looking for Black holes throughout space, thinking that possibly a our universe will some day run into one. That is because we are an open universe which is always expanding. Rather than a flat universe or closed universe.
|
Slight problem with what you just said.
Number one, a black hole is little more than a massive object in space. Most, if not all, black holes are stars that have basically swollen to around 1 million times the size of our sun and larger.
Nubmer two, sicentists cannot SEE a black hole, hence the term black hole. They are so large they suck in light as well. We look for large disterbences in space, collections of radiation and matter, hawking radiation, and we detect objects and know because of their size, they must contain a black hole.
Here is a good question though : When did time begin? What would things be like if nothing existed, not life, the univervse, nothing?
|
time started when God created it
|
But when?
Belive me, I am Christian, but I do belive that things like the big bang could have easily happened. The bible is not very specific in how the universe was created.
|
Might wanna go read the bible buddy, it is pretty specific on how everything was created, God created it he has been around since the begining of time, when you die you can ask him how everything was created

Gravity is a force that pulls down. That is why you can stand straight
up.Hypothetically that is also why it would pull your head through your
feet, if you were to go into a black hole. If gravity streched, then
when the apple fell on Newton, it would have been stretched apart and
exploded or something, stretching just doesn't make sense..

How could God say he was real if there was no God? I mean could you physically talk to someone and say you exist if you dont exist, i cant really explain it good, but u get the point.
If you arent real you dont have the ability to say you are real because you arent there so you cant say anything

No prob dye. And I'm still not getting into the religion debate but I just need to throw a few things out.
1. When you argue with a Christian it always comes back to the bible and faith.
2. The Bible has versions and was written by men.
3. The Bible and the Christian Religion as a whole has been a very
political thing throughout the ages and there is a VERY good chance
that the bible has been edited and the religion changed to fit mideval
politicians needs. Think about the way those times were.
4. Faith....Blind Faith, which is what it is, has been proven VERY
dangerous throughout history. Look at Hitler, Stalin, the Crusades,
Osama, Sadam, Pol Pot.....the list goes on.....
5. There is no valid arguement that Christianity is any more valad a
religion than the religion practiced by the natives in the South
American jungle. Same with the religion that is practiced by the people
blowing themselves up in the middle east.
Well, I guess I've gone and gotten into it...oh well....

To my understanding the earth and everthing else started as a a tiny
piece of dust particle and soon the dust particle attracted more due to
gravity and that grew upon itself until it was large enough to start
attracting rocks and so on and so forth. As far as stars maybe
plasma gas imploded or something off that nature? un-sure .. very
un-sure but that is my deduction based on no faith what so ever.
But sometimes my faith does question my logic like... this quote right
here.
"Tom" says to steve if you could have stopped 9-11 or the oklahoma
bombing you would have right? Steve replies yes of course and Tom
simply says well if God controls everything than I guess that makes you
nicer than God.
Please don't make assumptions that I don't believe in God or Jesus because the poop will hit the fan.

Logical approach, but wrong.
Gravity is stronger closer to an object than farther away - gravity is stronger on the surface of the Earth than it is a 100 miles in the air. With a black hole, gravity gets much stronger very fast as you get closer. If you "entered" a black hole feet first, the gravity acting on your feet would be so much stronger than the gravity acting on your head that you would in fact be stretched apart.

I would like you to meet my Astronomy teacher. I am not saying you are
wrong, I am just saying that I was told different. Different as in I
explained gravity the same way he did about the black hole. IO will have something to talk with him about tomorrow. Yay.
Next friday we are going to the Cyklatron(sp) at Michigan State

together... Or try to come up with new elements. Sheesh, it was
