I play lead guitar, and have played some bass. And If I was going to go on what was easier I would take bass anyday. If you learn guitar first, you can pick up bass in a week or two. And be really good in a few months. I'm not flaming you, because their are some really talented bassists, and the girl was wrong to say that. But it's got some truth to it. -------------

i think bass is just as hard maybe even a little harder to play...you could say the same thing if someone played bass first then played guitar they would be able to pick it up fairly easy and fast...sorry but thats a bad example to try and prove a point with -------------

Im going to have to disagree, and people are different and pick things up different ways and times. But to me it was like learning cords on the guitar. Once you learn the first 2 or 3, the rest come easy. Bass was like that except in bass mostly your hitting one string at a time. Which made bass even easier for me. If someone would sit down for a few days and teach me the songs, playing rhthym bass would be no problem. And I'm not an awesome guitarist. I guess I just found it easier, people are different. -------------

heh such as playing rhythm guitar would be just as easy as rhythm
bass... when i first picked up the bass i was sitting with my friend
and hes like play these chords...and in 5 minutes i was playing enter
sandman...i think both instruments are just as difficult to play

Because Enter the Sandman is single notes as in bass. Learning chords on bass is much easier because you only have to hit single notes and put to memory what single notes to hit and the pattern. Learning chords in guitar, involves pushing multiple strings at once. Try playing something with some chords. I'm not saying you can't, and you may be a natural, but I think you will find it harder than Enter the Sandman. -------------

so does bass...there's alot more than just pulling the
strings...there's plucking, slapping, pulling...and a good bass line
isn't just one string yer talking aboot easy punk/rock bass lines such
as sublime...i can say a lot aboot stuff being easy for guitar...yer
just not making this a good argument lol

It goes both ways, and I'm aware of the slapping and pulling, because my brother plays bass. In an earlier post I said a week or two I could get the basics. In a month or so, the more technical stuff could come in. I fail to seehow I'm not making a good argument when your not making any strong points either, we basically have the same point of view, with different instruments. -------------

yeah, really, jesus people how bout we get on the subject...ive played bass, drums, and currently play guitar. I am fairly experienced in these instuments and we will stop the music conversation with this: IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOURE PLAYING!!!! If you play bass, jazz is gonna be really hard...drums? how bout some of that hardcore punk? Or lay down a drum line by the drummer in blink-182...that guy gots skillz...as for guitar...just a challenging as any other instument, it all depends on what you play, so here, im gonna ask you all to do these things and then say theyre easy: Play just about any Cure song on bass and it will be a toughie, play Im Lost Without You on drums by blink-182...yeah, the whole thing without stopping...good luck, and play just about any Zepplin, Van Halen, or Santana solo on the guitar. Everything is equally hard. So dont start dissing on people's instruments...good god...yeah, youre all done...stop talking about it but, back on subject...paintball realated "hey, i cant find the on switch on the paintball gun..." school realated: true story, this happened in my U.S. history class in 8th grade and never forgot... Teacher- "Okay, you like talking, tell me who the first woman president was." Stupid Hot Girl- "Oh! Oh! I know this one!" Everyone whispers to eachother "watch shes gonna say Sacajewea..." Stupid Hot Girl- "Umm....."
