I decided to try making a wooden stock for my 98c. Looks like crap 'cause I didn't put much effort into making it. It's far from finished. I still have to make it thinner, round the edges, cut a new hole, make the thumb hole larger, stain it, and throw it away.
I'll try again sometime next month to make a better looking and higher quality stock.

I'm inspired, I think I'll go with steel though. Now I just have to find my welding mask.

I said I'm not done yet. I had some extra time yesterday so I decided to do what I could with the horrible tools in the garage. All the curves you see had to be done with a drill that wont go side to side.
The metal one is nicer but it's a lot heavier than the wood.
And the one thing that makes it look so bad is that there aren't many wooden stocks that look good on guns with pistol grips that I've seen.

Nice. I'm sure you could make the wood one look sweet, but the metal one is nice. Good job.

Rate it 9/10 for originality , 2/10 execution (I know its not done yet )

Why don't you actually buy an old crappy non-working gun, or air rifle with a wooden stock, and fasten an end-cap onto it, and make an actually real-world looking rifle stock? It wouldn't be that complex... nice attempts though, I actually like the metal one alot.

Hey Tolgak Nice try with your stock. If you have access to router you could route all your edges and take some sand paper different grinds sand it down. It looks you might need to cut the opening for your hand just little bigger. I have some expience in building a stock for a built my custom stock for the A-5 just this spring from concept to finish stock. I hope to post my gun soon for the marker gallery. You will get to see the quaity of what you can do with your custom stock. Play safe and have fun.

No I was a the Special Force Battle III IN Buffalo,MN for the Battle to far game. I built the stock this spring, now I am working on the MP5 clip mod for it. It takes me alot of time to do these kinds of mods for the A-5 to get them just right. Play safe and have fun.

Actually, it's a really good start. Like you said, sanding it down and rounding the edges will give it a much cleaner look.
My father made a wooden stock for a talon a few years ago, and it looked pretty cool. Getting rough cut wood to look nice though requires a bunch of work. I think it'll be worthy of keeping once you get it all cleaned up and sanded off.

Is that pine? I would suggest using that as a test piece/prototype and then making a final out of a good hardwood like walnut, like a real stock. Hardwoods are more durable, and more pleasing to the eye when finished. Maybe do it up 1930s tommy gun style with a matching forearm.

I don't know what kind of wood that is. It was from an extra board just laying around in the garage.
And I was thinking of making a wooden shroud for the flatline but I'm afraid it might come out bad.
As you can see, I have a poor sense of style when it comes to stocks. Somebody help me...

Why does it say you have over 1 million posts?
I would cut out the piece of wood infront of the thumb hole (So it's usable) and sand the hell out of it.
