ok so my uncle is going to buy my cousin a paintball gun!!! i told him about it and he's getting a few people that want to play from where he works. it's great. well he wants to keep it cheap. could someone show me some good spyders that arent super expensive. also i would like to know if those spyders are better than a pirhana. he looked into either a spyder or pirhana. one other question..... are all spyders electronic and not mechanical? thanks for the help guys. i really need it.

Spyder: Extra, Shutter, Victor, Rodeo, etc. these are all mechanical and are under 140 or so.

Most of the electric ones are above 140. I'm not very familiar with the Piranhas.

He should just spend a little more and get a Tippmann. It doesn't pay to buy cheap spyders. He needs a gun that's going to work when he needs it to work.

^^I agree, but if he insists on keeping it cheap, I would see what guns the local field carries and purchase one of them. That way, if you have problems, you can take it to the field and have it fixed. Most rentals in my areas are Pirhanas. A nice gun my friend uses is the Syndicate Paradox PGF. It's a nice marker for around $90-100 USD.

The T.E.S. dragun (189) and Dragun The One(379) come stock with eyes

To answer your question smitty, you might be able to find a nice 98c on ebay for really cheap. Or you can go around to different sights and check to see if the have closeouts and stuff.

Spyders are pains in the butt to upgrade. You can only buy Spyderupgrades for them. because the hoses are metrically threaded.

I'm the friend and I would go with a Rodeo if he wants a spyder ($120.00). I have the Paradox PGF and it shoots really good (not so great for woodsball) but for speedball its perfect. Its made by Syndicate INC.

Dragun T.E.S's might be the crappiest gun out there. Dont' get one, all they give you is problems.

don't buy a phirana, my field had 30 98 Customs to rent, but they took in a new partner who had 30 Phirana EXT 2k3's his thought was rent teh tippys to the woodsballers, and the phirana's to the speedballers... yea, well needless to say that most of the phirana's had jacked up regs among many other problems and they break all the time, the field owners told their new partner to get rid of them because customers were getting pissed that their rental phirana's were always breaking...

I have a phirana R6 and two 98's. Thr R6 is a very easy gun to learn. I had it taken apart and put back together like the second week i had it and could reasemble it in prabably about 45 seconds to a minute. They are fairly solid but they do get a little touchy sometimes. Like if you take off the "volumizer" nob in the front you need to make sure before you put it back on you cock the gun to make sure it will have a good seal. Small stuff like that. Not very fast, not very acurate, but it works.

btw, I got the phirana and decided I needed to get a better gun like 2 months later and thats when i got my model 98 and then soon after i was like, hey playing one on one all the time would suck so now i have 3 guns just to invite people over to play. Im just saying if this is something that he might get into then pay the extra 20 bucks and get him something that will last.

Smitty ,if he wants to keep it cheep , try wal-mart , dont expect the operators at the proshop to be too sympathetic with you tho, when ya bring in a broken gun for repairs , they will help , surely, but more than likely charge you for it . walmart may even have an exchange policy tho ,if the gun breaks in the first 30 days , idk .
