Do you mean how much do we make a week? If so, i work two jobs
part time. Every wednesday (until winter really) I work from
about 5-9, and i work atleast one day everyweekend (about 4-close
(10-11) or like 9-4) Generally i make around 60-100 dollars or
more a week, depeneding on if i work an extra couple days or not.

depends on what you do , and where you do it , and who U do it for, lol , Small mom and pop operations typically dont pay what a larger company would for the same job classification (exceptions to this do happen tho,,)
What you do , for an employer has a big bearing on what you'll make per hour too , a janitor wont make what a dock worker would,, , and a dock worker wont make what the supervisor would make .
What are you going to be doing ?, the Dept of labor has job classifications , with regional wage surveys on its site , anybody can go there and look up what a "average" worker with almost any job will make in a certain region . wish I knew how to post hyperlinks .

each load include 500+ tires ranging from small car tires to huge
tractor tires which i have to load into the back of a trailer then
unload. I do probitly 3-4 loads a day. In the florida heat it is very fun but it pays well.. I don't

Well, since i'm in the military my pay isn't figured out by the hours system... we get a monthly amount that is split in half and we get paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. Here's the current rates:
http://www.dfas.mil/money/milpay/pay/2004paytable.pdf - Military Pay Chart
I'm an E-5 with currently over 8 years, January it will be over 10 so i'll get getting a raise. Plus i get a flight pay bonus every month, alongt with my Montly BAS allotment (its base allowance for sustinance, basically some food money, usually about $300). I currently live in base housing, so i live rent and utility free, but if i lived off-base i'd get a BAH (Base allowance for Housing) bonus which would offset rent/housepayment and utilities.
Plus, if congress is nice every january all military members get a raise, can be anywhere from 4%-8% depending on congress...
Plus i get a yearly re-enlistment bonus because i re-enlisted for 5 more years 2 years ago, so every year a get a few grand in my pocket.

I know i just got the basics and i can already see it gona get much
worse. Its no wonder its so hard to find people to get into this
trade.
We NEED more young guys in the trade BAD my shop is at the moment
havineg every mechanic working 12hr a day 5 days a week pluse 5hr on
saturdays and were STILL falling WAY Behind. We are trying to
find more mechanics but it is hard to come by now a days.
The average age of a diesel mechanic at the moment is closeing in on
60. I am a rarity and have ALWAYS been the youngest in the shops
i worked at.
Lets see why.
First off ITs hard work
Second it can be somewhat hazerdous
Third the money is not all that great compaired to other Trades (Plumers/construction workers make ALOT more).
And you are FORCED to spen a Fortune on tools that depriciate in value faster than CARS.
Only real reason i stay in the trade is cause for some dang reason i like it
There is some sort of satisfaction to haveing somthing pushed in as a
piece of scrap and leaving running like a top. For some extra
cahs me and my co workers are considering joining togeather to start
selling cars and such buying up beaters fixing them all up (Hoping some
up) then selling them. Mehcanics is not just a job its sort of a
lifestyle as it is my main hobby as well as seen though my link in my
sig.

i have about 10k tied up in tools/compressor/etc just as a hobby... (my poor 73 charger that i had to sell ).... but i've seen what a snap-on box can run you guys... computers are my career... so when my mechanic friends ask me about computers and i ask them about cars... we split the difference and just go fishing...

Man this is going to sound bad.
I'm a Sr Systems Analyst for a major corporation making around 60K a year. My wife is also a Sr Systems Analyst but works for a major hospital corportation and makes around 55K a year.
That sounds like a lot until you factor in the mortgage on our 40 acre horse farm and all the other expenses that intails.
As Shadowminion but it, most of you are making more "play" money then I am.
The weird thing is that last year I "retired" from the Army Reserve after 22+ years and won't see a pension check for nearly another 20 years. So my pay actually went DOWN this year!

Well, I am a defense contractor, work on navy ships on ALL their computer, communication, command and control, and intel systems. Get underway sometimes and get paid extra for that. With all said and done, i average about $30 an hour, not counting benefits like Blue cross/Blue shield PPO (company pays $1100 a month, i pay 100 a month for that), full dental (free), 401k that matches UP TO 6% (i like that one) re-imbursed tution for college and technical training, expense account, etc..
Not sure how old you are, or what you are looking to do. If you are looking for a career choice, i would suggest finding something you like and never stop getting more training so that you can move up to the next position. NEVER STOP DOING WHAT IS NECESSARY TO MOVE UP TO NEXT HIGHER POSITION. ALWAYS STRIVE TO IMPROVE YOURSELF.
