Welcome to the world of paintball and the Tippmann forum!

Most people when they start paintball want to be the uber 1337 Sniper play for a little while longer and find your playing style if you want to go with the whole woods ball sniper thing get your self a tippmann and up it with a flatline I now plently of guys who did that  and ended up with a FL 98 w/stock wanting to go speedball. Since your new I'd suggest a 98c or Pro-carbine both are great reliable marker perfect for new players. What's your price range?

Good luck!

ok i say 98c, flatline, and remote line

and here is just my opinion, sniping, ppl say u cant do it in the sport of paintball, i beg to differ, take a tippmann 98c or a5 it doesnt matter, put a flatline on it, u have become a paintball sniper, think in the world of real guns, why is a sniper rifle a sniper rifle, a main reason is the range it gives the user over a normal gun, so in the world of paintball doesnt the flalinen shoot father than any other barrel out there? , also sniping involves alot of patience and pratice, I know this b/c my father is an NRA instructor, and me and him have been in my shooting events, recently we were at a range up in new hampshier, we were both using, well w/o getting into detail a "sniper rifle", I dont have the best shot, but im still new to the rife, my father on the other hand can easily shoot a dime at 250yds, so sniping in a way does exist in paintball, these guy the craw around w/o being seen, wait for that perfect shot, well thats what i call a "paintball sniper"

khaine, The Man gave the best advice so far. I'll add a little more.

Go down to your local paintball store. They should have several guns on display and should have at least a 98c and an A5, possibly a ProCarbine as well. Ask to check each one out. Be prepared for most store personel to try to sell you something else, stick to your objective. Buy the one the feels right in your hands stock.

Now that you got the gun go out and play several games before deciding on any modifications or upgrades. Don't play the "who's got the most upgrades". Make changes that enhance and improve the way you play.

Since your new to this forum I'll dispense with my usual lecture on the merits (read lack there of) of playing sniper in paintball. I'll just suggest that you use the search feature at the top of the page using the keyword sniper and let you catch up on the subject.

Take SR_Crewchief advise before you buy make sure tou try out the marker see how it shoots and feels if possible go to your local field and see if some one has a 98c/pro-carbine and ask to shoot it or even if the person is really nice ask to use it for a game. Or go to the local pro shop and ask. Also do you have a mask and tank already? V-force makes great masks anyone you get will work great and I reccommend a regular 20oz tank.

I know someone who has a 98c with a flatline and  he loves it.  He has a two options for a stock, butt plate on the co2 or his collapsable stock.  I've played with both and say that the collapsable stock with air hose dosent go well if you want to go and play speedball.  Sp thats why he switches back and forth.  The 98c is a good gun. I have one, I also have an A-5 with Flat Line.  Point being a 98c or A-5 is good for sniping.

Before you go out to the store and buy a new 98c, ask the owner if he or she is there, if they have a used marker.  I got a used A5 and it cost me $15 more than a 98c.  Just a friendly tip. The store even threw in a starfire bolt and RT kit for 1/2 price.
