yeah, so.
i just dropped a few bucks on a new 20GB iPod. I can seirously say I'm in love. I worked all summer and decided, hey, why not. Does anybody know where to get some songs/cd's without using any of that kazaa crap? i tried mirc but it didnt work ------------- <Replaced gigantormous sig with strike, good trade.> |

My friend's brother just got one also. He already has hundreds of songs on it. I will ask him at school tomorrow and get back to you. How are you liking it?? Maybe I'm just old fashioned... But I don't get the excitement over a walkman. Ok, it holds a zillion songs. Big deal. It plays music through headphones. Is that really something worth spending hundreds of dollars on, let alone get all excited about?

a walkman? ha. this thing actually only holds 5,000 songs... and why am I excited? Because i just spent 300 dollars on something that I've been saving for for quite some time. Music is pretty much my life, and forgive me that I get excited about stuff that I'm into. Yes - a Walkman. Invented by Sony a couple of decades ago. You make a mix tape with songs copied from your friends and your albums. Then you play said songs on your Walkman, listening on your headphones. Currently available for $6.99 at Best Buy. Other than improved storage and improved sound quality, explain to me exactly how an mp3 player is different from a Walkman. (Answer - it isn't)
I have 5,000+ songs on my computer. How many do I actually listen to? Maybe 1%.
And good for you - spend your money however you want. Just don't expect me to agree with your decisions. Your excitement doesn't make an iPod more than a glorified Walkman. Because that is what it is.
I did not force my opinion, and I already knew your point of view (since you posted it). I think iPods are a glorious waste of money. For the storage and money I would pay maybe $50. But $300? (or whatever they go for now) No way. That is my opinion. I am not forcing it on you in any way, but simply expressing it, as you are expressing yours.
See - I had some degree of respect for you up until that retort. By your display of juvenile ineptitude with language, which forced you into such a simplistic and crude choice of words, and your emotional instability, which forced you into such a wildly inappropriate retort in an otherwise courteous thread, I can only conclude that you are a little child who is lagging behind in emotional maturity. Actually, I have. And I have used one. I though the guy was joking when he told me what he paid for it. Other than increased storage, my PocketPC can play the same mp3's as an iPod, and with the same sound quality. Except my PocketPC, for $400, is a full-fledged pocket computer. I can play "Quake" on my PocketPC, and check the internet and get walking directions and take notes and get my email and a zillion other things. Can your $300 iPod do that? No - it can't. An iPod is worth $50. A penny more is too much.
Like I said earlier, IJM is certainly welcome to enjoy his Walkman. But revolution? Hardly. You children have no sense of history.

Unfortunately, I have a life and can't spend half an hour organizing all these different quotes, so I'm just going to put it straight for ya- I spent my hard earned money on this, and I'm excited. I share my excitement with people whom I thought were like-minded. The first thing you say is negative, and seriously, do you EVER have anything nice to say? The first thing you can do is bash on me and compare my ipod to a freaking 25 year old piece of history. The pod makes plan rides SOO much more enjoyable. Having all the songs so easily accesible is extremely convient. For me anyway.. Not to mention I can put test answers and what not on it, and teachers dont know because everyone has pods. Anyway.. good job on getting something you worked hard for and are enjoying IJM. |
