The A-5 is better because:

It comes with the cyclone.(DUH!)
It comes with a vert ASA stock.
E-grip is cheaper/easier to install, but it doesnt make your gun a electro pneumatic like the e-bolt which would be nice.
The flatline is easier to install on the A-5 than the 98.
The A-5 has and adjustable front grip.
The A-5 has a fully enclosed bolt.
And the A-5 can be easily field stripped, the 98 is a pain in the arse to field strip.

I personally don't like the A5. However, I do think it is the best gun there. However, you can get better guns for that price. I personally like the Pirahna GTI E-Force, Spyder Rodeo, and Spyder Imagine. Don't listen to Spyder haters, they aren't as bad as you hear.

are you talking stock? or are you planning to upgrade them?
Stock if what i went by what i hear (even tho i haven't gotten the
chance to shoot it) i would say the A-5 But, personally i LOVE
my tippmann 98 custom, w/ the flatline OR the 14 inch it is
extremely dependable, durable, and accurate.
