ive always wondred why the people who make paintball guns didnt think of making a diferent kind of loader, i was looking at a picture of a tommy gun one day and came up with the idea of replacing hopper with the circular kind of magazines used on tommy guns, what do u think of this idea if it hasent already been invented, for those of you that dont know its the large round pice under the gun.if this has been invented can you please send me the web sites..

I think that is a very good idea, but the downside is having to cary all those circular magazines, cant think of the real name right now.  It is the same concept as the q-loader, spring loaded.  If i get my hands on a magazine of that sort i will try to rig one up.

That circular thing is a drum. Ive wondered about this idea myself, I think it would be cool to have magazines instead of the hoppers.

ya i hate hoppers,  having to put ur gun up over a bunker and getting shot in the hopper, and i also dont like how big the q loader is id like it to be slimm and no hoses atached to the gun, just directly in to the gun.

thats not a bad idea. i would see how the paintballs feed through, but Glassjaw is right about carrying extra circular paint drums unless u can have a little vacum hose or something to feed the paint from ur pant tubes into the drum or some kind or idea like that. great thinking though. or mabye a harness for the the circular drum magizene

There is clip fed guns that arent 10 years old, but they are chinese and british and they use .40 calibre paint and these dumb little orange things as shells that fly out the side of you're gun, and you loose most of them.

Thats a RAM gun. Short for Real action marker. SMG-60's and 68's used the same concept. but use .60 and .68 calibre paint.

ATS makes magazine fed guns as well. That circular magazine makes an awefully large target.

And if your getting hit in the hopper going over the top, then you have rightfully been shot out. Always go around the sides. Wrap son wrap

exactly, except smg 60's used 62 caliber paint, not 60.

Its a good idea and you can probably fit a Warp Feed inside it but, the balls wouldnt be fed directly into the breach from underneath, you would still have to use a hose goin out from the drum and into breach which is usually on top (vert feed) or on the side (like Tippmanns), jus like how the Qloader is setup and if you never knew, theres only one type of marker that can be fed from underneath and thats an ATS marker but, theyre mags only fit 20 or less balls each but, if you manage to create a whole "new type" of marker that can be fed from underneath....good luck to you or to anyone who has the resources on doing it.

All Scepter Combat System's markers will be magazine fed. I think their first marker comes out next month.

I have 1500 rounds of .60 calibre paint in my basement. They fit in the stripper clips tight enough.

Its based on the the concept of a Halo B hopper no clips just filled with 68. paintballs.

And no its not mine.

They use that design on both the Prototype SMG with a drum, as well as using it on the FN303 which is riot-control gear.

Not a new idea, but also not practical in today's paintball in certain areas. Scenarios or recball shouldn't matter, speedball and tournaments I doubt you'd find it beneficial. No top hopper but much wider.

And how many balls would that drum hold and how many spare drums would someone be able to carry on the field?

Have any of you guys been to Tippmann's main head quarters? In the front lobby they have all of the guns they have made and different variations behind glass. They have a smg with the drum clip and a pretty cool mount bipod thing, pretty sweet.

FN-303. Developed by AGD and now in production by Herstal for riot control. They don't use paintballs, but same size. .68cal

Plastic shell with fins, these can do much better than regular paintballs... and hurt a lot more (especially due to the mass difference).

For more info go here http://www.fnherstal.com/html/Index.htm Go to "Less Lethal" and then "fn303 launcher."
