Anyone heard of the 21" M4 sniper barrel for the A-5? Here's a link to a site it's on. http://rap4.com/os/product_info.php?cPath=95_124_137&products_id=522 - http://rap4.com/os/product_info.php?cPath=95_124_137&pro ducts_id=522

Ok, first off, accuracy really doesn't change after 16 inches, and second, what's the point of this?

Blitz just made a 21" barrel. I saw it on an Evil Pimp and it looked insane. Over 14" is too long.

Anything longer than 14" is useless. Regardless of barrel length, the ball will travel the same distance because all guns will shoot pretty much at the same velocity and the weight of the balls are relatively the same.

Not necessarily. Just get a high quality barrel and buy paint to match it. Buy a barrel set if you go to parks that only allow house paint.

I've never seen anything but .68 paint in my area/ at nearby parks. Well, are there any reccomendations for good/reliable/sturdy barrels. What size, too. --I play some of everything, but don't prefer air fields.

Hey, actually paint varies in size a lot. They range in size from .679 to .695. This is why so many pro players use barrel kits so that they can have a perfect paint to barrel match for the best accuracy. Here's a link for the different barrels and their bore sizes to help ya out, http://www.angelfire.com/mech/zds/resources/barrelbore_am.html - Barrel Bore Sizes . Also, here are some paintball sizes to give you an extra edge, http://www.ottersccustoms.com/paintc.html - Paintball Sizes . Hope this helps,
Mike

as far as barrel kits go, there are a bunch of very good ones out there. Probably the most well known is the freak. But the inserts pose a problem and most players are shying away from them now. The evil pipe kit is very good and it has the smoothest bore out there, you can actually shoot through ball breaks and clean the barrel lol....other kits include the macdev matchstick kit, i have this one its totally worth the money i paid for it, most accurate barrel kit ive ever used (had a freak and a pipe). the other two good barrel kits are the Empire and the Lucky kits, and they both have different size kits for different prices. btw, the most common bore size will be around a .685 to around .689

Rap4 makes .40 and .43 caliber paintball guns, I wouldn't trust thier quality. Check this out though- I know for a fact that these are good barrels. Check pbreview.com

DrunkDriver: In your OPINION, its a waste of five inches. Don't forget that other may not value the same style of play as yourself.

^^ actually it is a waste of like 7 - 9 inches because after like 14 inches at the most alll the barrel is doing is requireing more c02 to push the ball out so its pretty pointless i respect your whole opinions arguement but this is just fact opinions dont matter

Its just simple physics, for example:
A Colt M4 Rifle with a 24 inch barrel will score better groupings than the same rifle with a 20 inch barrel. Generally, the more time the ball spends being guided and focused by the barrel, the better it will go where the barrel points it (This may not be where you point it, that's why a good quality barrel is important.)
There are hundreds of factors that affect this, which is why a longer barrel is ussually more accurate, but not always. Hence, if you get an off-brand 21" barrel that no ones ever heard of before (no disrespect to Rap4 intended), chances are it wont be as accurate as a well known barrel of a shorter length. But, (for example) a Smart Parts all american 18" barrel is noticably more accurate than its 12' counterpart. It all depends on how the barrel is made.
P.s. "opinions don't matter"? - I don't think we're talking about the same thing.

^^ there is a sticky for this somewhere explaining your physics but you cant really compare a bullet to a paintball because the way the bullets are shaped it is good for them to have a spin but you dont want your paintballs to have a spin mainly because they are going at a slower velocity but even so 21 inches is a waste of space money and air having to push that ball all the way out borntopaint is right. and dont need to start calling me a newbie im new to the forum not the sport

That's true enough about spin - with certian exceptions its not effective on paintballs, but adding spin isn't the advantage of longer barrel.
Think of it this way - when you pull the trigger and the bolt/gas stikes your paintball, it start to look alot like a waterballoon in mid-flight: wobbly and deformed. The longer the ball is in the barrel, the more that this wobble is corrected. This is part of the reason why Smart Part's stepped bore barrels are so accurate - they gradually hone the ball back towards perfect roundness. Of course, were talking fractions of millimeters here (Anything more and the ball explodes), but it makes just that much more of a difference once the ball leaves the barrel.
Again, whether it is worth the exrta inches or not is an opinion. For some, that tiny bit of extra accuracy is worth it. For others it's not. I play with an 18" and 21 in's seems a bit long to me, but I realize that thats because I value a certian style of play. Some may like it, some may not. But it comes down to your style of play - not right or wrong.
P.s. Welcome to the forum
